“Lovely little gem of medieval architrecture in a quiet green place”
Owned by the Romanov boyars since the 16th century, Izmailovo estate was the favorite royal retreat of Tsar Alexei. Peter the Great spent much of his childhood here and learned how to sail on the estate lake.

In all fairness, I wouldn't recommend going there only for a sake of seeing it. It is very nice indeed, the church is beautiful (though recently restored) and the park is civilized and quiet (its birch forest is stunning). Yet, there is not that much...More

Frequented by the locals for fishing and playing with their kids in the grasslands. Don't go here if you are in a hurry. It is steeped in history and tradition, as mentioned in an earlier review, but utilised more by the locals

This is a rare find indeed. Close to Partizanskaya metro station and the Kremlin theme park. We arrived in the area after a busy journey from the UK and found ourselves in a huge characterless hotel next to a theme park. To walk out of...More
