This square is one of the many sights/sites to see within this grand city. Located next to the river Neva, the central attraction of the square would have to be the monument to Peter the Great. Definitely worth a visit during a walk, you will learn more of the cities stories with a guide.

That is one impressive Square and Park also, with so excellent position in the wondrous City on Neva River. Here we just enjoyed in one genuine panoramic view of the Bolshaya Neva, the Alexander Garden behind, the magnificent buildings of the Senate and Synod, St. Isaac's Cathedral over the Alexander Park, building of Admiralty with its high spire and naturally... Big park with big statues. So much to see in this City that you can almost become desensitized to the sights. I wonder if people who live here and see this everyday are aware of the amazing sights in this city.

On our private tour of St. Petersburg, we were driven by so many interesting sights. This impressive square offers a panoramic view of the Bolshaya Neva, the Alexander Garden, the magnificent buildings of the Senate and Synod, St. Isaac's Cathedral, and the Admiralty. It was one of the first squares in St. Petersburg. The compositional center and main ornament of... More

Important part of St. Petersburg history where a famous revolt was quelled in 1825. There is also the Senate and Synod Buildings in the adjacent area. Good views back to St. Isaac's Cathedral and the Neva river.

Senate square is an absolutely beautiful place to enjoy in St. Petersburg. It is situated on the left bank of the Neva and St. Issac's Cathedral sits prominently off the square as well as the Admiralty Building on the east and the Senate & Synod Buildings on the west. We walked through this square several times during our stay in... More

Interesting square with a nice statue in the middle but nothing special. Lovely to see in the winter but it seems to look even more beautiful in the sunshine.

This is an impressive, equestrian Statue of Peter the Great in Senate Square. It was commissioned by Catherine the Great, and is now considered to be one of the most famous symbols of St. Petersburg (just like the Statue of Liberty is to NYC). The pedestal on which it stands is called “Thunder Stone” which got its name from the... More

Worth the walk by, if for nothing else but to admire this great bronze statue and take some time out from a whirlwind tour of St Petersburg!
