The vast and grand Palace Square with its towering Alexander Column provides access to the Hermitage Museum and the giant archway leading to the Nevskiy Prospekt High street.

A vast pedestrian area, surrounded by magnificent Russian architecture (including the Hermitage museum). The scale & beauty of the architecture is breathtaking. It was made all the more special by the ice & snow; a true Russian winter.

Spacious, especially in February as not many tourists. Gives a wonderful view of the sweeping front of the Hermitage and Winter Palace. 360degree view of wonderful buildings and a triumphal archway. Avoid actors wanting to have photos with you, for a price.
