I've loved and walked regularly since I was a kid. But today's visit made me want to walk for a long time... I bought tickets to the Iolanthe Opera, starting at 4 p.m. Arrive with the kids in advance, stand a HUGE queue for search. Two frames open, guards swearing frankly, people pushing. Finally we're inside, but surprise - everyone who sends the kids to the receptionist, because the opera is claimed to be 12+. There was no limit to the fact that there could be no children watching in Yolanta!? There are two huge queues at the receptionist's window, one with the kids and the other behind the countermarks. It's not hard to guess which one moves faster. We stood in another line, answered "Yes" to the administrator's question "do you take responsibility for what the child hears and sees" (am I sure I'm going to one of the shortest and easiest operas for children to understand?), got a scrap of paper for the ticket holder. We reach the wardrobe, where we are finally welcome and asked if we know where all the spectators are, why the wardrobe is half empty (we do - everyone is choking in the queue to enter). Third call, run into the gym. We did.

A strange impression of the dusty hall, the dim light of the chandeliers I'll let go. As well as the fact that, unlike the evening plays, the lights in the lobby were turned off and Mariinka's beauty was not shown to the children. But the way the opera itself was drawn out... The tempo is very slow, the intensity is lost, some of the arias in the slow performance do not sound frank. Instead of the stated 1 hour and 40 minutes, the opera ran for almost 2 hours. Came home, revisited the 1963 Iolanta of the Riga Film Studio, with colorful costumes and masterful performances. And to be honest, I thought for the first time that I didn't want to go to Mariinka, my favorite once. I feel sorry for the people who came from other cities on purpose today and saw it all.

I hope the theater management sees the problems and fixes the situation...

A resident of St. Petersburg visiting the Attila Opera.
01/21/24 came to the show, and our seats were already taken. It took a long time to prove that the tickets were purchased 4 days before the performance. The administrator did not figure out who was first and where. And two 70-year-old women had to prove their right to visit. They even let us into the hall when the performance began, and then into the chairs. Disgraceful.

I often go to the Mariinsky Theater. I really love the repertoire, especially operas. Today was Khovanshchina.
But, sorry, this is simply becoming indecent! When Gergiev is at the controls, the end of the performance is delayed at least!!!! for half an hour, or even more (since the beginning and intermissions are delayed). Maybe the management should remember that in the hall there are people who may not have cars (especially pensioner grandmothers) who need to catch the metro, and not pay 1500-2000 rubles for a taxi!!! Accordingly, you either need to leave earlier, which half the room did, or pay money for a taxi!
The viewer needs to be respected!!!!
And to the orchestra and all the artists - bravo!

I see many laudatory and enthusiastic reviews of Mariinsky Theatre's "Puritans" directed by V. Furmanov. Thought I'd share my experience of the visit to the Bolshoi, in which fortunately Bellini was given a visiting troupe. Albin Shagimuratov, portrayed as Elvira, was pleasantly surprised and admired, perhaps only her appearance kept me in the chair until the end of the performance, since the kind of disdain for the audience shown by the orchestra led by the conductor is impossible to imagine in the walls on Theatre Square. However, guests from St. Petersburg allowed themselves to delay the performance by 15 minutes, I'll leave no comments on the musicians' outfits, especially since "their work was tight," the same "theatrical" was delayed after the intermission. The performance itself was remembered for the constant extraneous noises of the masses, which created a cacophony filled with the sounds of swordsmen falling, axes banging on the stage, general pounding and wardrobe accidents. Admired Arturo, visuals aside, but this performance at the Bolshoi is, in my opinion, defiantly bold. As for the chief arbiter - the audience, which, as you know, you can't hold on the meat, the production was received warmly and with delight.

The paradox is that having been to Leningrad-Petersburg many times, I visited the Mariinsky Theater only now. And then, having previously visited the Primorsky stage of the Mariinsky Theater in Vladivostok. The contrast between the modern scene in Vladivostok and the classic alma mater was interesting. since I had 4 evenings, I could “play” with dates and chose Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro” staged by Yuri Alexandrov. I love opera, Mozart too, so the impressions are the strongest and most positive. Music, opera (in Italian), costumes, interior. Well, the libretto allowed us to once again admire Beaumarchais’s unbridled imagination. The price of tickets for the balcony is quite reasonable, but for the stalls it is expensive. As is the buffet. But this is probably the case everywhere...

Were at the premiere of "Concert Dancing" and "Hot Bird" on June 28, 2024.
Bulanova and Thomasson didn't shine, but they played evenly, which is not the case with "Concert Dancing." Stamps that almost ended in a fall.
But I particularly want to "thank" the Mariinka administration. Only visitors to the famous stage are worthy of such spirit!
At the same time, the administrator herself sits in an air-conditioned office, not in a stuffy room with an ambient temperature of +32C. This environment meant that in order not to faint, some of the audience left midway through the second act, including us...
So if you want to visit Mariinka - think about the heat in the hall.

The early fair huts were replaced by a wooden theater and then a stone building in 1783. Called the Bolshoi Theater, it could accommodate up to 2,000 spectators for ballets and operas. The Mariinsky Theater was built only in 1859.

October 5, 2023 We were at the opera Don Giovanni at the Mariinsky Theater, on the historical stage. A strange choice of performance on the theater’s anniversary.
Did not like. The costumes are in black and red tones, the wedding guests are dressed in gray short dresses, the artists have ordinary everyday hairstyles (ponytails, etc.) on their heads - there is no impression of a holiday. The guards in the baron's castle wear black glasses and black bandages on their heads.
Conditional minimal decorations. The whole performance is drawn out. People began to leave their seats in Ward 2.
The skill level of the artists is good.

We were at the Nutcracker Ballet on December 27. Very much enjoyed, and also the music of the great Tchaikovsky speaks for itself. Conquered the theater itself. It's very well thought out for visitors. Each floor has its own mini wardrobes, lots of small buffets, everything fresh and reasonable prices. Comfortable chairs. Thank you to all the staff and the company.

Stunningly beautiful theater. I watched Swan Lake on November 17, 2023; there are simply no such beautiful and sensual productions anywhere else. Previously, I watched productions at the Bolshoi Theater and the Royal Opera in London. They are clearly inferior to the production at the Mariinsky Theatre. The orchestra plays excellently.
