Cute story to encourage fidelity and marriage. Best part is the beautiful church next to it. Also nearby is the eternal flame for the WWII dead from Irkutsk.

Located next to a beautiful Orthodox church, War Memorial and just up from the river this is a great little find as you wander Irkutsk. Make sure you read the tourist plaque (In English and Russian) explaining the significance of the pair.

Two people fall in love. Their love is so strong that even death could not part them. And so the legend goes...And July 8 becomes the Russian "Valentine Day" to honor the pair.

A nice story - they were so happy together in life that not even death did them part! There is a rabbit at their feet, which people are supposed to rub for continuing marriage bliss - we did!
