Embarked on a trip from 28/2 to 3/3 with Baikal Explorer, would greatly commend them on their value added services, in terms of being so sincere to serve us. There are 5 of us in total & we embark on a private tour as arranged with the company. Glad that communication to plan the tour via WhatsApp was really fast & efficient! Totally no language barrier. We even told them on the places we want to visit & they gave us suggestions, feedbacks & build a customized itinerary for us! If you guys are thinking of visiting Russia, do look out for them with no hesitation!

Initially i wanted to see the lake baikal and then go back to irkutsk. Then i came across this company and decided that the dog-sledding tour should be the highlight of this adventure. I can say that it has been one of the most awesome things i had ever done in my life. Or one of the things every person should do while he lives on this planet. It was superfun. The dogs are very good and obedient animals. They had lots of fun pulling me through the snow and they didn't even want to stop. I only regret not booking a larger route because it was worth the money i had spent. I think i can do this every day without getting bored. So you haven't been to baikal without the dog-sledding tours. I highly recommend this tour and the company as well. You will never be disappointed.

We arranged a tour of Olkhon Island with Baikalex in November 2019. We went for the budget option and arranged it before we left. The communication with them was good before we arrived and they answered all our queries. When we arrived in Irkutsk the bus picked us up straight away from the train station. It was a minibus which picked up others from the city and was comfortable enough for the journey. It didn’t take too long to get there and we stopped on route at a cafe which had tasty food. We got a boat to the island and were driven directly to our accommodation which was comfortable and kept constantly warm with a stone stove. Very good in November weather. The food they served was some of the best we had in Russia. Khuzhir is a nice quaint town that is reminiscent of the Wild West. The next day, we got a jeep trip across the island in a classic Russian jeep which was great. We had home cooked soup, bread and salad when we stopped which was great. There are Siberian Foxes which enjoy sweet cakes and are well used to people. The drive back to Irkutsk was even faster and again a stop at the cafe along the way. All in all, it was well organised and recommended if you are looking to organise a trip before you get to Russia.

We did the 3 days 2 nights tour to Olkhon Island. We were picked up with a fantastic and clean car to get there, the accommodation on the island is awesome, a nice room with en suite facilities and wonderful homemade russian dinner and breakfast. On the second day we explored the island with an old russian army jeep, Leonid brought us to some nice and quiet spots with great views! On our return to Irkutsk we had bad luck with the weather, the ferry to the mainland stopped for four hours due to strong winds, but there’s nothing you can do about that, safety first! After spending another night in Irkutsk we did the day hike next to Listwjanka, here we had as well a flawless transfer, with Valery a perfect guide and great homemade food for lunch. The vistas on Lake Baikal were breathtaking, the hike was about 5 hours, including approximately 600 metres altitude gain. We definitely recommend Baikal Explorer!

Had the most amazing time with Leonid, our guide, to Lake Baikal. Very well organised and luxurious trip to Olkhon island. Leonid was very informative, polite and friendly and made us feel extremely comfortable through out the trip. He took us to some rare spots around the island from where we got breath taking views of the Lake. Not only this, on our return he even took us to the airport to get back our misplaced baggage (which is a long story) and dropped me and my family back to our apartment hotel. That was not a part of his job but he was kind enough to help us out. Thank you so much Baikal Explorer for a superb trip. You have left us with life long memories. Loved every minute of it!
