Embarked on a trip from 28/2 to 3/3 with Baikal Explorer, would greatly commend them on their value added services, in terms of being so sincere to serve us.
There are 5 of us in total & we embark on a private tour as arranged with the company. Glad that communication to plan the tour via WhatsApp was really fast & efficient! Totally no language barrier.
We even told them on the places we want to visit & they gave us suggestions, feedbacks & build a customized itinerary for us! If you guys are thinking of visiting Russia, do look out for them with no hesitation!

Initially i wanted to see the lake baikal and then go back to irkutsk.
Then i came across this company and decided that the dog-sledding tour should be the highlight of this adventure.
I can say that it has been one of the most awesome things i had ever done in my life.
Or one of the things every person should do while he lives on this planet.
It was superfun.
The dogs are very good and obedient animals.
They had lots of fun pulling me through the snow and they didn't even want to stop.
I only regret not booking a larger route because it was worth the money i had spent.
I think i can do this every day without getting bored.
So you haven't been to baikal without the dog-sledding tours.
I highly recommend this tour and the company as well.
You will never be disappointed.

Special thanks to Mr Leonid being such accommodating to our last minute request. We had been dealing with Mr Leonid 3 months before the travel date, Mr Leonid being so patience and assisting us on all our changes/request. We really had a great time. Strongly recommended.

I am impressed by the Baikan Explorer and Mr.Leonid ,our guide. It's my first time to visit Lake Baikal . You must come and see by yourself. This place is very beautiful scenery and amazing with extremely cold.

We joined a two-days-one-night tour to Olkhon Island. Our guide Leonid was helpful and prompt to reply our enquiries. We had difficulty finding a Bank to exchange money on the first day to Russia, and Leonid kindly advised us the nearest Bank to our hotel which could provide foreign exchange. Everything was smooth and the tour was well organised. We had a safe trip to and a pleasant stay on Olkhon Island.

The trip was everything thing we hoped it would be. Very well looked after by Alena and saw the best of everything often away from the crowd. Well planned where we went and the scenery was amazing. We were blessed with good weather.
Well looked after too at accommodation and lunches on the lake was a highlight too

We had a 4 days tour (3 nights on Olkhon island) + 1 day in Listvianka.
Leonid was very helpful planning our trip and Alena was a great guide for these 2 tours. They are very smooth, we booked the Olkhon tour a few months ago and the Listvianka tiur one day before and they managed it for us.
We shared the trip with 3 other nice people (cheaper price)
We enjoyed driving on the lake, as much stop as we like, great view points, ice caving, lunch on the ice, bubble bay etc... everything was perfect
We could'nt expect better for our first time on the frozen lake!

I visited Lake Baikal, Irkutsk and Listvyanka last Feb with Baikal Explorer arrangement. Sorry to write the review that late. I want to say the experience is unforgettable and wonderful. I had very good communication with Baikal Explorer before and during the trip. They sincerely recommend amazing tour and place for us.
Their tour guide are nice, professional and knowledgeable. Our 8 days trip was very smooth and worryless.
Thank you Baikal Explorer. If I visit Siberia again, I will join Baikal Explorer tour for sure.

Had the most amazing time with Leonid, our guide, to Lake Baikal. Very well organised and luxurious trip to Olkhon island. Leonid was very informative, polite and friendly and made us feel extremely comfortable through out the trip. He took us to some rare spots around the island from where we got breath taking views of the Lake. Not only this, on our return he even took us to the airport to get back our misplaced baggage (which is a long story) and dropped me and my family back to our apartment hotel. That was not a part of his job but he was kind enough to help us out.
Thank you so much Baikal Explorer for a superb trip. You have left us with life long memories. Loved every minute of it!

Hi, George. At that time the lake is frozen only in the north part. In middle basin the ice is broken, some pieces of ice are still floating on the lake.

Hallo zusammen,
wir fahren im Juli nach Sibirien und werden u.a. 4,5 Tage in Irkutsk verbringen, von wo wir Ausflüge an den Baikalsee machen wollen für 2 Tage. Ein Vorschlag war, vom Baikalmuseum in Listwjanka zum Tscherski Stein zu wandern. Strecke soll 1,5 km lang sein. Da meine Mobilität etwas eingeschränkt ist, möche ich gerne wissen, wie die Wege dorthin sind, also wie steil es rauf geht und über welche Distanz, ob Trampelpfade oder gesicherte Steige usw. Habe langjährige Bergerfahrungen und bin noch trittsicher, kann aber inzwischen nur langsam gehen und benutze Wanderstöcke. Wenn jemand schon dort war, bitte um Rückmeldung.Gerne auch Alternativvorschläge für nahe Touren mit schöner Aussicht. Gerne auch mit Sessellist oder Bergbahn.

Yes, it will be still frozen. However many places are already not possible to visit on ice.

Sled Dog Races / Trail distance:
- 1km track: 1700 rubles per person (acquaintance trail)
- 3km track: 2500 rubles per person (small trail)
- 5 km track: 3500 rubles per person (medium trail)
- 10km track: 5000 rubles per person (up to 30 minutes)
- 20km track: 9000 rubles per person
- 20km dog-sledding with lunch in forest made on fire (2-3 hours): 12000 Rubles per person
- 40km dog-sledding daytime 11-17:00 with lunch in forest made on fire: 18000 Rubles per person

Not sure. We were there in summer, but I imagine tours would be possible when the lake is frozen over. Contact Baikal Explorers and they'll be able to tell you.
