Went on the big tour of Stalingrad this morning was out for about 5 hours with my man Mikhail. A bit pricey but a good engaging overview chauffeured and one on one. Got an overview of mass death, body counts and strategy and then some discussion of current imperialist mass murder and how it related to the last 100 years.

More than 800,000 men lay on the battlefield, In addition to 800,000 imperialist collaborators. I'm still not sure how many have been more or less properly buried in mass graves and how many are still to be discovered. Apparently they have to revise the memorial plaques every 2 years as more bodies are found every year or should I say, more remains.

It seems that the people who fought and died here had an idea of what they were fighting and dying for even despite the imperialist mass murder of the working class a generation earlier and the domestic political counter-revolution carried out by the bureaucracy.

We visited the newer German mass grave erected in 1997 over the protestations of surviving Red Army veterans.

That was also impressive in the tens of thousands of names listed along with the obligatory wishes for the western liberal peace of the graveyard and implied imperialist conquest.

Mikhail mentioned his Great Aunt and her 25-year-old premonitions from Donbas of returning Nazis and western imperialist mass murderers. His uncle laughed at such prognostications but he thinks more and more about her words as his cousins there endure the shelling and as we're now at war for 7 months.

Nevertheless it's a satisfying even great feeling that the west is finally paying for its crimes as America declines and the Morgenthau plan will soon be implemented against Germany and Western Europe and whole generations of willfully ignorant westerners led by their Nazi sympathetic betters will experience death and despair like their betters in the Soviet Union had to endure 30 years ago when freedom and democracy triumphed.

After the killing Fields of the ex-BSSR and observing the extermination of my people I had to come to the battlefield of Stalingrad and grimly celebrate the death and punishment of the western traitors. All in all it's been a satisfying trip.

I had only about 5 hours in Volgograd and Mikhail organized a day tour that allowed me to see quite a lot. He is a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide and provided comfortable transportation for the tour. I learned a lot about the Battle of Stalingrad and saw many places of significance in one of the bloodiest battles of WW2.

The city tour and trip to Mamayev Kurgan to see The Motherland Calls (Rodina Mat zovyot) were amazing and, once again, Mikhail insured I saw the changing of the guards and explained the many graves located throughout the complex.

When I am back in Volgograd, I'll definitely call upon Volgograd Sputnik Travel for another tour.

If you are looking for a unique learning experience full of interesting facts and stories then this tour is the right one for you. We spent a lovely three days with Mikhail and Sergei. Mikhail is very detailed with his explanations and descriptions. We particularly enjoyed our personal tour of the former department store where negotiations for the surrender of Paulus and the sixth army took place. The journey to the the Don river and the battle of Kalach was both interesting and fun. You can tell this is Mikhail's passion as well as his profession. All of our three days were fun and interesting. If you are interested in military history or just feel like experiencing something different then we would definitely recommend Sputnik travel.

An truly memorable and exceptional experience in visiting a city I have read about for over thirty years and am lucky enough to be writing a book about the epic battle of 1942-43 that defines it. Volgograd Tours organised a bespoke 4-day trip for me which involved two days researching the archives of the Volgograd Panoramic Museum , followed by a tour of the main sites of the battle.

Mikhail from the company was ever present by my side assisting and translating dozens of documents in the archive, and then guiding me through the various sites of the battlefield that he thought relevant (which they were). He was also great company, which when you are travelling alone, a long way from home, during a global pandemic - certainly helps! It made the whole trip stress-free and thoroughly enjoyable.

Would completely recommend Volgograd Tours if you want the full experience of understanding the battle of Stalingrad as well as enjoying stay in a remarkable city.

When I arrived in Volgograd the first thing I did after setting my suitcase down was to go online and see what options there were for tours of the main points of interest in the battle for Stalingrad and SPUTNIK popped up so I opened the site and found what I was looking for phoned Mikhail and arranged to meet the next day and what followed was two days of intense military history on the battle for Stalingrad and the build up to it. All the main sites were covered the dept store, Paulus's living area, Dom Pavlova, the tractor factory, Chuikovs OP, the all important signals post the list goes on, I lost count on the places visited but if you want to get off the beaten track Mikhail's your man.

Mikhail's and easy going guy and his knowledge of the battle for Stalingrad in my estimation is second to none, stories to make you wonder, to be in awe of the history of the moment that you can imagine yourself being right there. You'll feel every emotion humanly possible in such a short period of time.

I don't think you'll find anyone in Volgograd with the depth of knowledge Mikhail and Sputnik have.

Mikhail will meet you in his extremely comfortable car with masks and water provided so there's no time waiting about unlike some tour operators I've been with.

At the end of my tour there was an issue with my bus ticket to Rostov. Mikhail and his wife made enquiries and managed to smooth things out without a hitch and when I thanked him he said it's all part of being with Sputnik you're taken care of regardless whether it's on the clock or not.

To sum up from someone working in Orenburg helping my Russian students with their English you'd have to be mad to go to anyone else.

I have been on 2 tours with this company now (Nov 2016 and Aug 2017) and both of them were superb. Both times the expert tour guide showed us around several key spots of the Battle of Stalingrad as well as other points of interest that we'd never have been able to find on our own.

The first tour we took showed us around sites within the city - the department store where Paulus surrendered, Mamayev Kurgan (a real must see), the grain elevator and so on. The second tour we took was to sites outside the city; not only were there fascinating historical spots on this tour, but also the chance to see the amazing landscapes the region has to offer. On this tour we were able to spend a few days on the excavations of the battlefields, helping to recover the remains and belongings of the soldiers who lost their lives in the Battle of Stalingrad. This truly is a once in a life time experience and I could never recommend this enough. You'll meet many local Russians who share a passion for history and who are incredibly friendly and welcoming. As well as this, you'll be unearthing real pieces of history with your own hands that would otherwise be lost to time. Most importantly, you'll be giving the fallen soldiers the chance for a proper burial and a place in their last formation.

The tour operator is great at accommodating whatever you want to see, and there really is nothing they don't know about the vast history of this amazing place. The historical, cultural (one thing Russia does not lack is culture) and geographical knowledge the guide was able to share with us was impressively detailed. The tour guide was also great at introducing us to the locals (who were always very friendly and hospitable), showing us the best places to eat that we'd never have found on our own and at helping us understand how to make our way around the city on our own via the roads, trams etc.

On top of planning the perfect tours for us, they were also incredibly helpful with helping us through the complex visa application process that UK tourists must go through. At first, applying for a visa seemed daunting, but with the help of this company it was quick and painless.

To summarise, if you want the highest quality tour of Volgograd, of sites from the Battle of Stalingrad and points of interest in and around the city as well as the best local food and cultural experiences, then this tour operator will be able to provide just that. I couldn't be happier with either of the tours I have been on, and I am sure you'll be just as happy if you choose this company as well.

With the able guidance of Mikhail and his colleague Sergei, my three-day tour made history come alive not only with visits to key sites in the Hero City of Volgograd (Stalingrad), but also at the memorial cemetery at Rossoshka and the monument at Kalasch-on-the-Don and vicinity. Mikhail has deep knowledge of history and rich personal insights that filled in gaps in my own knowledge of history. The fund I invested in the tour was well-worth every penny of it. In fact i felt i could have paid more because Mikhail and his crew were so generous with their time, resources, and knowledge that on several occasion they went out of their way to ensure that my visit was memorable, e.g., finding souvenir items in the fields that I could take home with me, or demonstrating how the powder of found bullets could still light a bonfire. Impressive! .

Visited Volgograd in 2009 to research the family history. My husband's grandfather was in the Battle of Stalingrad. Paid our respects at Rossoschka and visited other historical sights. Mikhail was our English speaking driver. It is great to see he has now become a guide and has immense knowledge of the area.

Mikhail is an amazing guide! Me and my dad took the tour during our trip to Russia and it was one of my most memorable and enjoyable trips I’ve ever had. Not only did we cover all the historical sites, we climbed on tanks, ate typical Russian soup at a roadside cafe, met the mother of a war hero and so much more!

HIGHLY recommended!

My father and I visited Stalingrad in 2015. In planning the trip I found Volgograd Sputnik Travel Company, in reading their tour packages and reviews, I decided they were the group to go with. They did not disappoint, the first day Mikhail picked us up at the airport and took us to the German Soviet memorial. The following two days Tamara took us all over the city. Her first hand knowledge growing up in Stalingrad during the Soviet period was great. She mentioned that one year she helped build one of the memorials we went to. She said that during the summers, school children were given two options, class or work, so one summer she worked on building the memorial.

If you are planing a trip to Stalingrad. I highly recommend Mikhail's team at Volgograd Sputnik Travel Company. If I get a chance to return to Stalingrad, I will be using Volgograd Sputnik Travel Company without a doubt.
