It's a simple concept, but the eternal flame shines bright. The fact that there were guards standing watch (similar to the troops at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier or at Buckingham Palace) was the icing on the cake.

The glory, the strength and the ones to remember are within the walls of this monument. Very easy to get to: 25 rubles by street car. Not to be missed, while in Volgograd!

The building itself is hugely impressive but time your visit to get there on the hour for the changing of the guard. Not to be missed

A beautiful monument to those who perished in WWII. From memory the guards change every hour every day of the year.

Periodically through the day a small number of troops march from the location up behind the Motherland Statue. Great shots. This place does not take long on its own to visit but is part of seeng the overall monument.
