The first and biggest museum that specialized in the history of Almadinah and its deep heritage. On our recent visit to Madinah we decided to take a trip to the museum. It i ocated at about a 20 min drive from the masjid so not convenient to get to. Uber is pretty unreliable in this part of the world so decided to take a regular taxi which cost 100 SAR for the return journey. First sight on entering the main gate was of a run down alleyway with many broken and old pieces of junk which I am sure were of no value or history. Ticket cost is 25 SAR per adult which is good value for what’s offered. We were given shoe covers to keep the inside of the museum clean and tidy and were assigned an English speaking guide. Other language are also available. The guide walked us through the history of Madinah, the wars of Uhud and Khandaq, the evolution of the masjid nabwi and the house of Aisha r.a. - all explained through models of the various buildings which was highly education and enjoyable. The whole museum is located in a single medium sized air conditioned hall. Despite the distance and the overall cost of the visit I highly recommend it. We left after Zuhr and were back in ample time to join the Asr prayers.

I’m glad to hear you had a wonderful experience at the Dar Al Madinah Museum! The museum provides a fascinating and insightful journey into the life of our beloved Prophet, offering visitors a deep understanding of his teachings, actions, and historical significance. The exhibits are thoughtfully curated, providing valuable insights into the rich Islamic heritage.
One delightful aspect of the visit is the opportunity to taste the delicious dates offered at the museum. These sweet treats not only add a flavorful touch to the experience but also serve as a symbolic reminder of the region’s rich agricultural traditions. The combination of learning and savoring the delightful dates creates a memorable and immersive experience for visitors.
Overall, Dar Al Madinah Museum stands out as a must-visit destination for anyone interested in learning about the life of the Prophet and gaining a deeper understanding of Islamic history. The combination of informative exhibits and delightful culinary offerings makes it a truly enriching and enjoyable experience for visitors of all ages.
They offer guides who speak Urdu and English as well as other languages so always ask.

We travelled with 3 kids and my parents and every single one of us enjoyed this tour. The facility is accessible by taxi and is around 15 minutes from Masjid e Nabawi. The museum is air conditioned. We bought our tickets on site and requested for an English speaking guide. The guide was informative, spoke clearly and answered all our questions patiently. We learned quite a bit. At the end of the tour, we were offered dates and tea. The bathrooms are clean as well.

The museum is located little far away from Masjid-e-nabawi, but very near to upcoming haramain railway station and Medina airport. I have visited this museum very recently. I found this museum very unique. Though this museum looks very small but it has lot of information. The museum has lot of models of Medina city with explanation regarding the history of Medina city and beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) life and his hijrah from Mecca city to Medina. The museum staff is friendly. the museum tour is in English, urdu, arabic, turkice and malay.
Please do visit this museum as it has lot of information.
please be aware of the opening times before you make a visit.
Car parking place is available.

I have visited the the museum last year 2014. It's actually one of the most interesting places to vist that show u the history of profit Mohamed peace be upon him. The museum was full of architectureal models and other rare collections of that era arranged in a beautiful and appealing way. It's intersting place to vist whether for individuals or families. I really enjoyed my visit and hopefully will be back inshallah. I give this place five STARS
and highly recommend to visit this place when visiting Medinah.

This is a private museum and hence the fee of SAR 25 entry fee. This has some excellent models of the life and times of the Prophet Muhammad salalalhu alaihi wasalam from his times in Mecca to post Hijrah.
It also details the stages of his mosque expansion from very humble beginnings to the one present.
Highly recommended for all the Seerah buffs like me.

A really nice museum around 10Km from the Haram area (our hotel was near the King Fahd gate entrance. Taxi fare cost around 15 Riyals one way (the driver will ask for more but make sure you get it down!).
If you get an Arabic only speaking driver, ask him to take you to Dar Al-Madinah madhab. They don't understand the English word museum!!
It takes around 10-15 minutes to get there so don't get worried if it looks like you're going no where!
You can ask taxi driver to wait, but that's with a charge, or alternatively give him a call when you want him to return. Either way, don't pay more than 15Riyals each way.
The museum itself has models showing the history of Madinah Al-Munawarah, from the time of the Prophet (saw) to the current day. There are many models showing how Madinah has developed, models on Jannat-Ul Baqee, Battle of the Trench, Uhud (+Archers mountain), the houses of the Sahabah, the houses of the Prophet (saw)'s wives, and also a bit of information on how Makkah has developed also!
Entry cost was 15Riyals per person, with a guide. They have options of English, Arabic or Urdu guides. The guide is essential as all the text is in Arabic.
Might be good for them to have some English text with the Arabic on each of the models as then you can go through each model in your own time, but nevertheless still a great experience!
This is one not to miss when in Madinah. It will be worth the visit, in sha Allah.

Must go to this museum if you want to get knowledge about Islamic history and specially if you want to see how Madina Al Munawwarah and Masjid e Nabvi extended. Entry fee charges are 15 per person. They provide you guide who will explain all the related knowledge during your tour. It takes about 1-3 hours for complete tour.

They open at 9:00am, and charge 25 Riyals per person. The guide is available for free; however one may give him a tip if required. We were offered kehva (Arabic Tea) for free on arrival. The museum showcases the history of Islam and not only about Madinah. Best to have around 2 hours to enjoy and explore it properly. Not a lot of walking required inside the museum.

I read all the reviews here and had high expectations. Myself and a friend went at 9.30am as the doors opened, the staff made us wait half an hour to what looked like they were having their breakfast!
Upon paying the 15 Riyals each we were told an English speaking guide would attend to us.
Waited another 15 mins and then when we queried where our guide was we were told that the English guide was not available but a Bengali speaking guide was to hand. This guide made us wait another 10mins while he was finishing his mobile phone call which clearly took precedence of the fact that customers were waiting for him in front of him.
Once the tour started, he seemed to hurry the narratives with the models. There was no consistency or timeline with his tour, jumping from model to model with no chronological order.
When we queried anything, he pointed to the Arabic description and just stated 'it is written there'. I'm sorry, but if we understood the Arabic then why would we need a guide???
Ended up our driver was giving a much better description of the exhibitions by reading off the displays then the guide!
Nice models to picture how it could have been, but awful service from the staff! Will not be visiting unless the staff change
