About
Resembling an elephant drinking water from the Li River with its long trunk, this hill towers more than 55 meters above the water.

It is well worth a visit to elephant trunk hill. We were able to get up close to see a Cormorant fisherman, and also enjoy the beautiful lake.
The weather in Guilin in January is very changeable, we were wearing winter puffer coats one day and shirt sleeves next.
There is a China Post outlet here that sells postcards and stamps.

It is sad that you cannot see the hill from the street as it is hiiden away from public view by the planting of trees. We went to the Sky deck at the Jolie Vue Hotel and there we had a perfect view of the hill. It is just an interesting rock formation which look like an elephant drinking water.Rather go to the SKY Deck , relax , have drink and enjoy the view before paying to climb the hill with no spectacular view of the elephant or Guilin.

Some of us always complain the expensive ticket price, but now it’s FREE for everyone! A small park but a world natural heritage, only 30 minutes you can finish this tour. Local people find it a bit boring but after all, it’s a symbol of Guilin City. Try NOT to eat those fake Beer Fish restaurants and Rice Noodles Stalls opposite the park entrance, overpriced and taste awful.

You can do it. The view from the hill is quite nice. The Elephant Hill itself is OK, but not impressive.
The tickets are free and can be obtained via the QR code at the entrance, for example. So I don't understand why many people paid for this (perhaps it used to be subject to a fee).

I went to the Elephant Trunk Hill with my family in April. It is in a beautiful park along the Li River. You can take many good photos here. If you climb the hill, you can also enjoy the view of the city. Highly recommended!

Elephant Trunk Hill is a major tourist attraction in downtown Guilin. The small hill, right at Li riverfront, has become a stop for nearly all tour groups in Guangxi. There is always a huge crowd at every part of the park and the view is not appealing at all. Although admission is free now, I would still go somewhere else.

Popped in with some time to kill in Guilin. The walk up the hill requires some effort when done in heat - there are some shady spots to rest and recover but be warned that many of the steps are irregular and slippery when wet so just be cautious with your footing.
It is a great view across the city and along the river from the top.
Be sure to head down to the "elephant's trunk" on the water front to see some interesting and well aged stone wall writings.
The gardens are well maintained and suitable for relaxing or hanging out with family/friends.

We had to kill half a day in Guilin so decided to visit the elephant trunk hill. The walk there in the morning was pleasant in the cold winter air. Crowded with tourists taking photos. There is a little hill within the park. Views from the peak was good, but climb up can be challenging for the young and the elderly. Would recommend if you have ample time to spare, but can skip if rushed for time.

While in Guilin, be sure to take a scenic cruise of Li River. Very very beautiful, with all the colors of China, and the smattering of camel back mountains. If you visit at night time, it is even more beautiful with all the lights and colors of China.

Should you have time left this is a nice way to spend it. The uphill walk is strenous but you will be rewarded with a great view of Guilin and the river.

Good question, I don't know anything about alcohol. To be honest the quality is said to be high though so may be worth buying.
