Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Quite simply the best day of our trip. Rocky was fantastic! From the moment we set off, it rocked! Outstanding trip to see the Terracotta Warriors - full of detail for inquiring kids, then singing Country Roads full belt on a mountain top ride, fab lunch, trips to special locations! And we even learnt how to play Mahjong on the ride home. Thank you so much.

Had a great day with Rocky on the 1000 Buddha tour. He is a worldly guy and was easy for everyone in our group to connect with. Great activity rain or shine. Highly recommended.

Rocky, I have heard about him and his tours. I knew I was in for a ride but boy did I have a great time! I know the terracotta warriors and the mausoleum might sound like something every tourist in Xi'an would visit, but I can definitely tell you my experience was very much different because of Rocky! He has a way to keep everything interesting. His way of storytelling is just mesmerizing! What's more, he brought us to a cave dwelling! That was the most special place I've been to, and it was definitely the highlight of our trip! All in all, I enjoyed my tour very much and I would recommend this to anybody heading to Xi'an anyday.

We spent an entire day with Rocky, a very prepared guide and enthusiastic person who made the difference on our day! He brought us with his vintage beautiful Jeep at the Terra-cotta Warriors site and around the Chinese countryside.
With him we had the chance to see China from a more authentic perspective as he brought us off to several farmers villages. We had lunch in a farmer house, it has been so authentic and for sure the best meal we have ever had in China. It has been a pleasure to meet the hosting farmers who are very friendly and generous people!
In the afternoon we visited ancient caves and spent sometime hanging in the countryside. Along the way, we met some farmers families that shared their tasty products with us, letting us having fun picking off fruits from their trees.
We ended the day visiting the Mao museum, discussing with Rocky on communism and cultural differences.
It was a pity to say goodbye!
We can only say that when everything is so well managed by great people, the experience remains unforgettable!

In a 2 week trip to China this was the best investment our family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers made. It seemed very pricey when booked in advance however the thought of travelling independently or on a generic tour bus during the crush of Golden Week was not to be countenanced and after a day with Rocky this hunch was validated in spades. Rocky was not only an incisive and thoughtful guide but a bodyguard too, parting traffic and competently shepherding us through crowds on a day that saw us in a throng of upwards of 80 000 plus people. His relaxed and amused approach and ability to weave in and out of queues was testament to an experienced operator indeed. The lunch we enjoyed at the farmer’s restaurant was our best meal in China, and side trips to caves, a monastery and a zealous private collection of Mao memorabilia made this so much more than a ticking the box exercise to see the Warriors, albeit they were riveting and astounding. We were on the road from 8am - 6.30pm and genuinely felt sad to farewell Rocky who is a fabulous asset to Xi’an Insiders - so too Prisca who managed our reservation and journey to The airport expertly. Wonderful

We spent today with Rocky and what an amazing day it was from start to finish. A highly informative tour of the Terracotta Warriors site and then up into the mountains - lunch in the village was the best meal I’ve had on my many visits to China, I’m vegetarian and I was well catered for. Rocky even took us into the kitchen to show us how to finely cut potatoes! We ate pomegranates next to some cave dwellings and bought fresh persimmons from local farmers on the roadside. The visits to the Taoist temple and Mao-memorabilia museum were well worth it, we learnt so much about both. Nothing was too much trouble for Rocky - what an asset to your company he is. A perfect day out - I highly recommend this !

Heading out, beyond the warriors, excellent, peaceful cave dwellings near Xi’an (30 minutes from terra-cotta warriors & good weekend location.) Fridge can be stocked as required, just inform ahead of arrival time.

We had an amazing day with Rocky and his jeep in early April and whilst we were not quite sure what to expect from the day we all got home at the end of it having had an great day with a very likeable and informative tour guide in Rocky.
We started out from the hotel at about 9am, went to see some local villages and farms, saw the Thousand Buddha Temple, had a great lunch, jade workshop, did some wine tasting at Jade Valley and topped off with a drive across the mountains with some stunning views getting back to our hotel around 7:30pm.
Highly recommend this and thanks to our travel agency Lightfoot for recommending we did this.

We had an amazing 3 days with Xian insiders. Got to discover the real life and culture of Xian with Rocky. He explained everything well and was very attentive. We also enjoyed the visit of the former red guard, Monsieur Wu, in his house museum. Use Xian insders to have a great time in Xian.
