This tower has numerous levels, many of which outline various legends and stories associated with the pagoda and West Lake. At the lowest level one can see excavations of the original pagoda and higher up is some stunning artworks including relief and carving images. I...More

A modern reconstruction of the original pagoda that collapsed in 1924. The views are amazing and the carvings that tell the story of the "White Snake Lady" are exquisite. The new construction sits above the ruins of the original structure, which were fascinating.

The tower we see today is built over the original ruins. The original tower is built of bricks; is a significant historical Buddhist structure in Hangzhou. The form is very much like a candi. In the basement, you can still see part of the ruins...More

This is a great very old temple to visit. Admission is 40 yuan, but well worth the price. The views from the top are spectacular, as are the intricate wooden carvings around the insides of one of the lower floors. Definitely worth a visit.
