Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have hiked Yunqi four times. To say the least, it is a great getaway from the city. It's secluded enough that you get into nature and forget the busy hustle and bustle of Hangzhou down below. I often see avid hikers on the trail as well as tourists (definitely unprepared in high heels, too few/too many clothes, etc.) I am not a big city person, so this place helps me stay sane when I need to get away from the city.

After the initial slope through the bamboo, this trail is all stairs, so if its busy with people at the bottom, you can count on the crowd thinning as you make your way up. There is a temple once you reach the top and a shop selling instant ramen, drinks, snacks, and ice cream in the summer. Of course it's much more expensive than normal because someone has to haul it all in by hand, but it's not unreasonable.

If you keep hiking along the ridgeline, you will come to some beautiful views of the hills and find some amazing tea fields. If you come in the early spring, you can see the workers picking the baby tea leaves. If you have the time and the energy, I highly recommend going as far as you can!

Yunxi Zhujing Scenic Resort (云栖竹径) is my favourite place in Hangzhou. There is no crowd here. The bamboo forest is peaceful, quite and relaxing.
It feels like you are in the scene of Chinese martial arts movie.

Map behind the entrance ticket is misleading use the map shown at the entrance.

The scenery on the way to Yunxi Zhujing Scenic Resort is also beautiful, passing through lots of tea plantations.

This place perhaps deserves a better rating as it is a beautiful setting with lots of hiking trails . However like most things in China it is very very popular with tourists and especially Chinese tourists . We made the mistake of going on a Sunday in the afternoon . It was so crowded it spoilt the whole feeling and appreciation of this tranquillity setting . We suggest visiting early morning and during the weekdays if you wish to feel the spirit of,the forest . Of course there is a mountain path there which takes a couple of hours or more to climb to the peak if you wish more solitude

I love bamboo forest and that's the reason I made the trip here. Honestly it wasn't as good as the ones in Japan but still a nice trip for me. Do make sure you bring repellent if you don't like bugs.

This forest walk was one of the most interesting and quiet places we found in the west lake area. We were there in winter and the forest lacked the beautiful green hue we were expecting from the dense bamboo but the layout of the paths, bridges, small creeks and pools of water that are provided as you trek up the hill create a sense of tranquility and relaxation. There are also a series of Buddhist tablets and tombs on the way up and a number of trees more than 1000 years old. At the top you will find a couple of shops and tea house (although not open at the time we were there) and a large pavilion crowning the view back down. What was most special about our visit here was that there were very few people around, seeing approx 5 groups in the 2 hours we were there, so either we it was a quiet time or this place is off the tourist map. Getting back down to west lake was also easy as there is a bus stop directly at the entrance. Highly recommend visiting of youre in the area!

I visited on Feb.10th, I got there by bus no.103, exited bus on Yunqi ZhuJing stop, from there it is only short walk to gate (entrance fee is 8CNY). Weather was perfect, sunny and warm. There were many tourists as I expected for Chinese New Year vacations but I cannot say crowded. Place was still quiet and peaceful, enjoyed strolling through bamboo forest and old mighty trees. At the end of resort I took a long rest and almost fell sleep over there. I am looking forward coming back later in the ordinary day after Chinese New Year holidays.

This tranquil spot was exactly what the doctor ordered as the place was not populated by the horrible crowds. There was a slight entrance fee and thus it keeps the hordes away. The scenic views were amazing and the tranquility was mesmerizing. I was going to skip this place because there are not many reviews but they were all pretty decent reviews so it was worth a try. I’m extremely glad we made the trek because after a few days of Golden week crowds (October 1-7) the peacefulness renewed our spirits and away we left quite content. If it was amazing then, I can just imagine how it would be during a period of time after the Golden Week crowds.

Do you want to have a break and be away from the hustle and bustle of city? Tired of busy and dull daily routine? I like to recommend such a place as Yunqi Zhuji, a bamboo-lined path at Yunqi, among West Lake’s tourist spots list. Tall bamboos, aged trees, gurgling water, green hills… Feel at ease and one with nature in this serene spot. In different season you can admire different attitude of trees and bamboos.

This beautiful bamboo forest is not too far from Hangzhou city center. It's also adjacent to the tea field village. Come early in the day and enjoy a nice walk in the park/forest type with tall green bamboo trees, and some of the largest other type of trees that you may see in Hangzhou. Pay a small fee to get in. Bring water and long sleeve shirt, trouser in late spring/summer to prevent bugs/mosquitoes bites.

I love this bamboo forest! I've been coming for years and it is my absolute favorite sport in Hangzhou

It is serene walking through quiet bamboo lined paths, over chain bridges, and down raised wooden paths.

Take a picnic and sit at the top at the tea tables and enjoy the peace and clean air. Be a true Chinese and snack on some watermelon seeds with your tea!

But of a trek to get to, parking is available. Absolutely worth it!!
