According to our guide, the West Lake is so beautiful that an emperor of ancient China copied it to build the Summer Palace in Beijing. Definitely the number one spot to visit in Hangzhou!

Very peaceful with nice views. I highly recommend taking a short 1 hour or so cruise to really appreciate the area.

My husband and I just spent most of our 2 days walking around the lake, appreciating the view and sitting by the benches. Would be really love to go back.

Nice place to walk around the lake and have tea at one of the restaurants overlooking the lake. Weather in February was ok, but i understand from the locals that it is very hot in the summer and most people do things in the morning or evening during the summer.

If you come to Hangzhou then the West Lake is well worth a visit. There is plenty to do around the lake including bicycle rental, boat hire, cruises on the lake, and so many photo spots. Best seen in spring when there are beautiful colours in the trees

It's a great place for a walk and plenty of famed cafes (Starbucks, Costa, etc) around so that will expensive. There are however crowds everywhere so it's a little tough to have a peaceful moment here.

The West Lake (Xi Hu) is growing younger! This is my sixth visit in last eight years. I get my childhood back, whenever i am here. Prepare to stay atleast a night nearby West Lake. Walk to the far west end; less crowded and many ancient buildings. Enjoy sipping tea in the tea houses nearby. The musical fountain at 8pm... More

Visited the west lake last year summer. It was a day trip from Shanghai, a great escape from the metropolitan city. Prepare yourself with a good walking shoes to tour around the lake, although there are other options such as cruising, I do think it is very enjoyable to walk along the lakeside surrounded by willow trees, with the cool... The west lake is stunning, I agree with the positive reviews here. Easy access from shanghai. I desiccated a whole day walk around. Pace yourself. Lots of boats offering to cruise the lake, I didn't go on one as it was winter and cold. Everywhere I turned to, the view was stunning. Perfect for picture lovers. I think it would... More

I met friends in Hangzhou and the highlight of our trip was West Lake. There is so much history and folklore associate with the lake, we spent days exploring. Walk the poet's bridge, take a boat ride, and read about Madam White Snake. This is one of my most memorable places to visit in recent year.
