I was hoping that the seafood at this market would be cheaper than Nijo market but there wasn't much of a difference. I would rather go to Nijo Market because it is a lot nearer to Sapporo, we had to take a train and walk a while to find this place. Seafood is fresh, there are plenty of stalls selling... More

After visiting Nijo market, we were hesitant to see the Jyogai or curb market because it may turn out to be more or less the same. However, our desire to eat fresh seafood took us there. And we had no regrets visiting it. 1. Bigger than Nijo This market has more stalls and is better organised. Crabs, scallops, shellfish are... More

On sundays, after 3 pm resto & food stalls are closed at jyogai market. But, there's one resto on a second floor (with blinking neon lighting signage) save our day!

The Sapporo Jyogai Market is a great place for fresh seafood. There are quite a few shops selling giant snow crabs, fish, sea urchins, scallops, oysters and so on. You can also buy famous Japanese snacks in the market. It's a good place to walk around then have lunch at one of their seafood restaurants.

Whole street is seafood shop after seafood shop. Eat on the premises, the prices are very reasonable. The area comprised 2 rows of shops facing each other. Most shops sold fresh local seafood, and some sold vegetables and fruit. Others offered local confectionary and souvenirs. Not much variety but a great place to stop for lunch and a short stroll... love this market! the seafood is so good; there are a couple of sushi stores tucked away and really good value for money (uokashi hikari zushi & uomasa) found it better than tsujiki market in Tokyo in terms of quality & price. also less crowded. we bought a whole heaps of snacks, dried scallops, etc to bring home (tax free)... For people who like alive and fresh crabs. Very popular for kani or crab in sapporo. All shops are similar. I took a taxi from former government house. And spent about 10,xxx yen for 3 people for lunch.

I was there before during the summer and it was great. Went there in March a little late, around 3:30 pm, and almost everything was shut down or just about to. Wish they could keep it open a little longer.

Our visit is winter with about -3.9•C, so we enjoy the so call hokaido winter crab. About 13 mins by texi@¥2030. The food is 'oishi des ne' plus lots of other seafood and fresh winter melon which you should not miss.
