This is not an eternal flame but a flame for peace and will only be put out when there are no more wars anywhere in the world

The eternal flame is a part of the larger peace park. The flame is next to the pool and in between the Atomic Dome and the museum. Very easy to stop and spend a moment while visiting the entire park.

The Peace Flame is another monument to the victims of the A-bomb. The flame has burned since it was lit in1964 and will continue to burn till all nuclear weapons on the world are destroyed !

The Peace flame and gardens were immaculately kept, spotlessly clean as in all the areas of Japan we visited, very thought provoking, lovely day out

Not really sure why this has its own page as it's part of the cenotaph however you should visit this.

Considering the location and purpose, the meaning behind this symbol is simple and profound. It is actually the "anti" eternal flame; Hiroshima WILL extinguish this flame whenever the world collectively destroys ALL nuclear weapons.

The Peace Flame is absolutely gorgeous- at night. During the day the flame was kind of hard to see and underwhelming. I went back at night, and it was breathtaking. As long as you visit the Flame at night, you won't be disappointed.

The flame is part of the wider collection of monuments in this area by the Atomic Dome and the museum. It's a very placid, tranquil, fitting tribute to those affected by the bomb.

The Peace flame burning , reflected in water against a backdrop of green trees and crystal blue sky. So so simple, so very poignant. Totally memorable.
