Powerful, haunting, unforgettable, moving. A frightening moment in history. A place every human being should be able to visit, including every head of state, to truly understand the cost of nuclear war.

The two of us went on a Wednesday afternoon and it was quite crowded with school kids. Everyone was polite but you had to be patient to see some of the displays. Admission was 300 Yen per person and an audioguide rental was another 300 Yen. The audioguide was definitely worth it. The displays are very well done but some... More

We visited the museum while staying in Hiroshima, I think it is important for anyone visiting this beautiful city to recognise the tragic history. The museum itself is very well done, the stories are haunting and very sad to see and read. It could obviously be upsetting for some people but is never gratuitous. You should get the audio guide... What to say that hasn't been said. Tip make sure you know all the things you want to see. There is a lot to do and see in this area and like us you may have to return as you missed something.

This Museum really is the gem of Hiroshima. It was so beautiful and moving and set in the right tone to serve as a tribute to all those who lost their lives there. It does however get exceptionally busy so plan appropriately.

I opted for the audio guided tour (costs an additional 300Yen) and did not regret my choice! The museum was well structured and it will lead your imagination back to the day Hiroshima was bombed.. The stories of those perished.. Of those who survived will undoubtedly keep your mind occupied.. I'd recommend allocating 2hrs or so in the museum itself... More

As someone who learnt about Hiroshima for my GCSE history exam I thought I knew everything about the devastation it caused. How wrong I was. Even though parts of the musuem are closed for renovation you still get a detailed description of the horrific short and long term consequences of the bomb. It was a joy to listen to the... More

This was so moving in that it was one of the few buildings left standing after the Hiroshima bomb was dropped. The whole site which has been maintained is a reminder of why we should have a nuclear free world.

An extremely well thought out and organized memorial. It's very peaceful early in the morning, if you want to avoid the crowds.

Such a horrific and confronting what happened to those poor people! Well worth a visit to see a part of world war 2 history. There was a lot of the city's history that has been destroyed but rebuilt.
