It is easy to get to the Arima Onsen. From Shin Kobe subway, take one stop to Tanigami station via the Kobe Subway Seishin Yamate line. This takes 8 minutes. Then change to the train on the opposite platform bound for Arima Guchi station, which takes 11 minutes and then change to the only train from the Arima Guchi station... More

I enjoyed this onsen. I cannot forget it. The staff doesn't speak English very well, but that's not a problem. Don't forget to bring towels, you can also buy before entering the hot spring. You are reborn after visiting this hot spring!

It is a small town with many onsen/hotel with hot spring facility (if you want to spend a night here). There is also public bath house where you can go for a dip too at a minimal charge. This place is beautiful in autumn as you will be able to see different colors of red/yellow/green leaves.

This town was similar in feel to Takayama but there didnt seem to be many foreign tourists when we were there...as a result, this is a little bit more local in terms of atmosphere. Remember to buy the Tansan Senbei which is the BEST senbei i've ever eaten before in Japan. we got them off a small little shop/production place... More

I visited the Arima onsen area and decided to take my time and spend a whole day. The small shops are interesting and quaint with lots of good souvenirs. I bought a fish cake on a stick for breakfast and it was really tasty. They are famous for the tansen senbei, really crispy wafer like biscuits that use the spring... More

the color of the hot spring here is yellowish and mudlike. quite repulsing at first, but loved it right after I went in. My skin felt much smoother after the spa.

This nice little village is in the mountains surrounded by high summits and offers good connection to Kobe town, Mount Rokko and all attractions. Numberous hotels are adding onsen possibilities to the public onsen, different price categories. The Shopping street through the center has lots of pittoresk shops and shopping to offer. If not car available, best is the direct... More

There are lots of transport recommendation from Osaka/Kobe, including train and express shuttle. This time I took subway and train from Sannomiya, almost 45min, ¥930, easy for foreigners. When I left Arima, I found that the bus is a good, faster and cheaper option. The bus stop is opposite to the train station of Arima Onsen, around 35min, ¥700, the... More
