Sachiko San is a great teacher! My daughter and I are both music enthusiasts and the shamisen captured our interest right away. The atmosphere for a first lesson cannot be beat, right across the street from Nijo castle in a traditional home. For anyone totally new to playing music, to the experienced musician, you will quickly see there is still so much to learn with the shamisen, and you couldn’t ask for a better first sensei than Sachiko San.

It was such a engaging and memorable experience! Not just a koto lesson only. Teacher Sachiko was very encouraging and shares interesting insights to Japan, Kyoto, traditional japanese music and koto playing. Easy to find and access to location near Nijo castle. The green tea and chestnut mochi was also a satisfying way to end the lesson.
