a pretty and explorative walk

pick a few temples to see along the way and enjoy all the garden views. We popped into a few interesting stores along the way

It is very charming and lovely walk or cycling at Philosopher paths, especially in early evening. Both sides with classic & beautiful residential houses and a lot of cats walk freedom in the area. Nice place to explore and shooting. 😍

The walk along the canal is very peaceful and pretty. In the cherry blossom season it is all pink but any other time it is beautiful as well.

Most places we visited in Kyoto involved working out the train system which is quite easy once you get the hang of it. For this one you need to travel by bus. not a huge issue but another system to work out. Not sure how this would have worked out without the phone GPS. The walk itself is lovely with... More

We started walking from our hotel (The Westin Miyako) all the way down to the Silver Pavilion. It was a long walk but definitely worth it. It is beautiful and quiet. We stopped on the way at a matcha cafe with a view to a garden. There are small stores all the way down to the silver temple with beautiful... More

When we got to the path, it wasn't very clear we were on it until I noticed the stones leading the way. We didn't see too many people, and I suspect it's because we went when the trees aren't as green and in bloom. Along the way to the main temple at the end (or beginning) of the path, we... More

Beautiful path from one temple to the next. Definitely worth the long stroll. We went during winter, I can only imagine its beauty when the trees and the flowers are in full bloom.

Visited this after my trip to the Nanzen-Ji Temple. This path (or walk) is about 6 km long and winds through neighborhoods on each side of the path. Along the way are benches to sit down if needed, and the path at times has a creek or canal alongside it. It is very popular but still I didn't feel overwhelmed... More

On 11/28/2016, I have visited the Philosopher's Path in the northern part of Kyoto's Higashiyama district. Along the path, you can also visit other famous temples such as Ginkakuji Temple (銀閣寺 / Silver Pavilion) and Eikando Temple (永観堂). It turns out that the visit of the Philosopher's Path for its autumn colors on that day was a bit of disappointed... More
