The reason why I really liked this place was it offered invaluable shelter during my very rainy days in Kyoto. It's just a shopping street, but still quite a lot of interesting things to see. Definitely tourist-oriented, but then again it does connect to the...More

It might be the great shopping in Kyoto. I simply couldn't see the special in comparing with the rest of Japan. I didn't buy anything from here.

Many small shops and places to eat, some expensive and some very reasonable. The famous "NISHIKI" marketplace is located there.

Teramachi is one of the biggest shopping areas of Kyoto. The merging of few streets create a big labyrinth that you lose yourself while walking through. My favourite is the music instrument shops that have variety of guitars and woodblock printing shops. Especially woodblock printing...More

This is just another covered shopping street. More or less they are quite similar, whether here or in Osaka. Only difference is the size. Often you see similar chain shops in all these shopping streets. But it still worth visit if you are here.

If shopping and eating are your thing to do out--- this is the one stop place. Nails hair food guitars beer on and on. So much to see and do.

A wide variety of stuff to offer. A bit crowded & touristy. Was only there for a particular old time senbei shop at the corner of Teramachi & Sanjo Dori.

This arcade and the nearby Shingyokogu arcade stretch for blocks in downtown Kyoto. They provide endless people-watching, shopping choices, and lots of color in a rain-free covered arcade. In addition to the shops, there are temples and shrines tucked into many of the blocks. We...More

Shinkyogoku Shopping District
Those who delight in shopping and cuisine will find
themselves at home in Shinkyogoku. Lauded and visited
by locals for its Nishiki Market, where baskets of
fragrant spices, dried fish, and just-fried foods are
piled high along the snaking streets of its enclosed
outdoor shopping spaces, Shinkyogoku is not only a hub
for fresh fare, but also for fast fashion fixes.
