Should be automatic on your Kansai itinerary along with the Osaka Castle -- plan to visit when the sun sets through midnight; enjoy the sights and don't forget to get the Osaka Black Ramen!

A must when in Osaka! It has everything from food to shopping to places to take photos. It's bustling with tourists and local crowd, definitely a great place to go at night.

All kinds of shops lined together. Food stalls of every flavor Japan has to offer. It also connect you to the different shopping districts. Best place to visit in Osaka. You can visit at anytime but it really comes alive at night. I would suggest staying in a hotel near this area as you can visit the rest of Osaka... More

"We have to see the Glico man" - that's about it. To be truthfully honest, we were quite disappointed about it. Heard so many good things about the place, but we were almost mostly being snubbed at the local eateries, till we started chatting among ourselves in English....go figure. The beauty and pharmaceutical products were about 20% higher in price... More

While you may enjoy crowded places once in a while, Dotonbori on the even of New Year will really try your patience as it is jammed packed with tourist. Getting a table will take you 2 hours. So i suggest you eat way ahead or are prepared to eat later in the afternoon.

The dotonbori was just 1.5 km from our accommodation so the nightwalk at about 8PM was pleasant and overall felt safe. There were a lot of homeless people around at this time, although my grandpa AKA our tour guide said that they were harmless and approachable. Normal human beings. Stores including restaurants will be open at this time as well... More

Aside from the Glico man it was also nice to see the dancing crab and Asahi sign, this place was so festive during new years eve. A lot of places to eat and have a drink along the water and get a feel the local culture.... You have to see the Glico Man!

Definitely worth a visit when in Osaka, where else are you going to be able to hear an Opera sung about Takoyaki? Choose where to eat carefully or you may be diverted into a tourist trap restaurant rather than an authentic japanese restaurant

First thing you have to do here is to take the obligatory photo in front of the Glico man. There are lots and lots of foods to choose here. Nice and recommended place to see especially at night during dinner time.

Everyone must come to Dotonburi when in Osaka! The buzz and energy is so amazing. Lots of happy people, busy stores and great restaurants to visit while there. One of my most favourite places!
