I love the admission-free rooftop garden. It is a nice and peaceful place to enjoy the sunshine and have good views of the harbour.

Did not pay to see the gallery, but no charge to go up on the roof and walk around see artwork scattered throughout the area. The view of the harbour and port is amazing from the top.Less than an hour is good enough, if just...More

The art museum itself is a major part of the attraction, both outside and in, with great views of the surrounding port/harbour area from the rooftop. There are a few galleries with a combination of permanent and special exhibitions, but there didn't seem to be...More

I did not do much research for Nagasaki, and was therefore glad that my curiosity brought me here. Designed by Kengo Kuma (隈研吾), the Nagasaki Prefectural Museum of Art is built on both sides of a canal with an enclosed glass walkway over the water....More

Rather small collection and not first class. Interesting building for Japanese standards, but do not have too high expectations. Good if it is raining in Nagasaki or if you have seen everything else and still have an afternoon to kill. Otherwise do not bother.

This is a relatively new fine art museum that opened its door in 2005, but its history goes back to 1965 when Nagasaki Prefecture opened the Nagasaki Prefectural Museum. Located near the Dejima Stop of the municipal tramway, the prominent museum building complex is easy...More
