Important Sikh Temple in KL
Apr 2017 • Couples
The Tatt Khalsa Diwan Gurdwara Sikh Temple is located in the Chow Kit area of Kuala Lumpur. In the surrounding area is the Chow Kit Wet Market and lots of hops and stalls selling meats, fruit, vegetables and freshly cooked snacks as well as many Indonesian products. There are also several Indonesian restaurants that we really like here.

The best time to visit Tatt Khalsa Diwan Gurdwara is when there is a Sikh wedding. You can contact them and ask for the dates and they will be more than happy to give you the dates and welcome you back to experience the wedding, which for us was a really brilliant experience, so much so that we came to two weddings.

The Diwan also runs a Sikh Reference Library and Sikh resource centre with Computers and Multi-media enhancements.

So if you are interested in experiencing some culture in Kl, here you can see the beautiful Sikh people dressed in their finest and experience their generosity and friendliness and a Sikh wedding and learn all about their culture.

Gurdwara Tatt Khalsa was built in 1922 and located in the middle of Chow Kit-Kampong Bharu border. It is the largest Sikh Temple in South-East Asia and there is a complimentary vegetarian lunch served on every Sunday where visitors from all faith are welcomed.

Largest Sikh temple
Mar 2016 • Family
This is the largest Sikh temple in South East Asia and is located in Jalan Raja Alang, at the border of Chow Kit Road market and Kampung Baru. In 1922, the British Government allocated the 1.5 acre site to the Sikh community and construction for the temple was funded entirely by the gurdwara. The present building dates from the 1990's. Visitors here have to wear a headscarf and pants or long dress. This is the spiritual home to KL's Sikh population. Worth a visit if in the area.
