Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I went in the morning before food stalls were open so can’t rate a restaurant but did try a couple tasty nibbles from within the neighborhood as well as an avacado chocolate shake on my way out. My interest is seeing and feeling the life of older traditional neighborhoods, walking among the people who live in the houses built by forebears. There are many traditional homes improved as generations passed or not so, people who lived within this community for generations. I stopped to draw, stood back as a sea of traditionally dressed men left their worship at a neighborhood mosque, walked down this street and that. In doing so I was greeted by several people, treated to heartfelt conversation by several more. This endangered neighborhood deserves to be preserved if for no other reason than to show what life was like before KL was swallowed by urban renewal.

YOU MUST GO HERE! Yes KL is modern, beautiful- Jalan Alor is amazing for food ( very hot and noisy though) but go to Kampong Buru in the day time or early evening. It will be quiet but that’s because people don’t know about it or bother with it. THIS place is true KL. And sadly soon to be demolished I believe. Don’t be scared to talk to the people making the food. They are trying to make a living. Tip generously - the food is like nothing else we had in KL.

This is the oldest residential area in Kuala Lumpur with traditional Malay houses.
Enjoy the best seafood along food street at Jalan Raja Muda Musa. A lot of food stalls, cheap good but very tasty. A must visit place.

The juxtaposition between the kampong and the backdrop of KL skyline does make for an interesting photography spot. However, the village itself doesn't feel very authentic and there are way too little activities to do here. However, there is a decent elevated viewpoint area from Pintasan Saloma which you should not miss when you are here.

A charming little "village" in the heart of Kuala Lumpur with a mosque, some market stall type shops and a few local restaurant. A fabulous meal can be had at Ristorant Sahrul with many favourite local dishes on offer. Be wary of the Tom Yum soup - it is fiery and delicious!

Kampung Baru or new village has been populated since the 1880's. In this small corner of downtown Kuala Lumpur, a slice of village life still exists among the growing metropolis of Malaysia's capital. Many of the homes here have frangipani and banana trees and coconut palms in their lots while skyscrapers overlook houses built on stilts. From the KLCC, walk along Jalan Sultan Ismail, cross the bridge and turn right on Jalan Raja Abdullah. By public transport, take the LRT to Kampong Baru station or monorail to Medan Tuanku station. There is a free walking tour from Visit KL which takes you into the heart of the village. Tours start from the Sultan Sulaiman Club.

Kampong Bharu which commonly spelled as "Kampung Baru" among locals is 1 of the last surviving traditional villages in the heart of Kuala Lumpur city. The whole area of Kampong Bharu can be seen if you go up to the top floor of Petronas Twin Towers. Kampong Bharu gives traveler a different and contrast experiences from the rest of KL with its abundant traditional houses and undeveloped neighborhood. Many locals love to come to Kampong Bharu to eat as there are many food stalls and restaurants that sell cheap foods open until late night. There is also a free guided tour of Kampong Bharu provided by the KL Tourism Bureau for travelers that would like to discover and gain more information of the village. I would highly recommend traveler to do both; 1 day explore it on your own and another day is with the guided tour.
