About
A Passion Project : 'A few friends got together to restore and rejuvenate a heritage back alley so that visitors can re-live a part of KL Chinatown in the old glory days. This part of town in the old days was known as Kwai Chai Hong, a moniker that still resonates with the older generation who resides there. Famed as one of the most Instagram-able spots in KL, you will witness restored pre-war shophouses and a century-old lamp post that you will instantly transport visitors back in time with artistic murals and immersive QR codes depicting stories from the past. Do not miss the oh-so-good food and great ambiance curated by cafes, restaurants, and bars here.'

Great effort to revive Chinatown with nice murals over the walls showing a glimpse of its past. We were there during the day but I saw some really great pictures taken by reviewers taken during the night.

Just head down here if you are around the area.

This is a small area where the walls are highly decorated with old times scenes. We met the artist there as well, he seems to be adding colours to those portions which have faded away. There are lots of tourist taking photos here so it is quite hard to get a clean shot. Got to wait and hope they don’t take too long.

My wife and I visited this place during our recent holiday in Kuala Lumpur.

Kwai Chai Hong in Chinatown: Climbing up the staircase to a balcony is a wall mural depicting typical street scenes of the 1960s. Clothes on bamboo poles hung up to dry out of the window on the first floor, and children skipping on a rope - made of colourful rubber bands loop-knotted together - in front of a typical Hainanese kopitiam. The woman, from the French window, with her hair in curlers and a cigarette sticking out from her lips, is the landlady played by veteran actress Qiu Yuen in the Stephen Chow's movie "Kungfu Hustle".

Here is finally an interesting Attraction near Chinatown. This slightly hidden alley was reinvented by a small group of local youth with murals and other very well done works. Of course the place is being stormed by social media buddies who take a crazy time to make the perfect photo.

The "Ghost Alley" of Petaling Street was once known as "Chinatown" or "Chinatown" due to the large number of Chinese people gathered there. With a history of more than 140 years, Petaling Street is the earliest Chinatown developed in Kuala Lumpur. It has preserved a strong oriental style. Hidden are the Luk Fook murals. Each mural contains a charming story, showing the daily life of Chinese immigrants who lived in the alleys in the 1960s. It is a good place to take photos.

It is a small Chinese style street art with local cafe and restaurant. The location is just 5 minutes walk from China town (Petaling street). You can take cool and chic photo with the painting on the wall.

This small alley, close to Kuala Lumpur's bustling Chinatown, is a hip attraction among locals. It is now a vibrant collection of hips cafes and boutiques as well as some interesting spots for photos. Worth a stop when exploring the area.

Small spot/ alley in centra Kuala Lumpur, which reminded me of Kuan Zhai Alley in central Chengdu city, China. Only a small portion whereby tourists can take photos. However, there are plenty of good food around and the shops and restaurant are full pack of people. There are also chinese pastry/ cake shop for you to enjoy local delicacies ie Egg Tart and Yam dim sum. Must try I would say ...
