Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Two beautiful old buildings, the Railway Building and Railway Station, relics of a bygone age and now the office of Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad. Built in 1910 and 1917 to designs of British soldier/architect, Arthur Hubback, in the Moorish architectural style popular during the period. When first sighted, I assumed I was looking at a mosque with the ornate facades, domes and minarets atop the buildings. Its a shame that the buildings have not been converted to museums as available information is descriptive of the mix of architectural features and styles that adorn the inferiors. Unfortunately, the exteriors require some TLC, the deterioration of the structure very noticeable in places.

Kuala Lumpur's original railway station had its glorious days, but nowadays it is a crumbling building that is unfit for the Malaysian capital. Yes, it is a notable colonial architectural gem but maintenance is poor. There is a pressing need of repair.

The Kuala Lumpur Railway Station and the Railway Administration Office are just located opposite across the Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin.

Like twin buildings, the architectures are primarily designed in a mixture of Western and Indo-Saracenic revival style. This beautiful hybrid architectural style was popular in the late 19th century in British India, refer to the Moorish architecture, as well as a combination of the Gothic architecture and Roman architecture.

Both buildings are architectural masterpieces. A must see for art and architecture lovers.

This building is a lovely blend of Indo-Islamic and what to me looks a lot like the Gujarati architecture epitomised by the Mahabat Maqbara of Junagadh with those spiral towers. Not a must-see in KL, but I was on the way to Perdana Bontanical Garden and I happen to pass this building.

A new notice on the entrances states that you MUST request permission to take photos or videos inside the station area. It appears any external pictures are still ok. Nice building but difficult to frame when it is dwarfed by the KL monoliths...

The transport system was easy and cheap. The staff help you if you are stuck for what to do. We caught a train to the Batu Caves with ease and it was very cheap,

We were excited to visit here as the 'visitkl' webpage said there was a heritage rail museum housed in the building, along with the still working station. It's not! We spent ages walking in and out and all around the building trying to find. Staff couldn't be bothered to help us and the whole place is dilapidated and grimy.

Seeing it from the outside/distance is the best way definitely. That's all there is to it really.

Tourist may visit this station. On Pasar Seni station, cross the bridge and you will be on the station. This building is near to Masjid Negara and old KTM building. Very grand and old building architecture.

The Railway Station has a very unique architecture and looks wonderful from the outside. Inside, there is an active railway with trains taking you across KL including Batu Caves. You can also cross into Central Markets and Petaling Street from the railway station (it's a slight walk though).

You can get some nice shots of the railway station from the street in front of it (which is quite busy). There isn't that much else to it.

It's quite close to the National Mosque and further up is the Islamic Arts Museum which you can walk to.
