Cannot visit inside due to security factors. King come in and out and the timings are not known. Not a place to spend much time, just look and snap away.Visited December 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 20 December 2023
- Dan LBunbury, Australia8,538 contributionsThe Royal PalaceAlthough restricted to views from the parking area, the building is quite imposing and a grand example of Islamic architecture located atop the hill with two large and five smaller domes visible from the entry gates. The grand entrance structures and gates are also impressive with two mounted horsemen and two guards, flanking the entry. Impressive and great for a few photographic memories.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 April 2024

Worth a photo op. You can’t get very close, but it’s worth a look and put on your second tier itinerary. 10 minutes is all you need here so I hear that taking a private car was the right call as public transportation is difficult to get there.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 31 May 2024
- LOAN PHẠMHo Chi Minh City, Vietnam51 contributionsNice Royal PlaceThe Istana Negara Palace is designed in the Arabic architectural style. The most eye-catching highlight is the building's prominent large gilded dome. The palace is decorated and carved mainly from wood or marble, creating splendor and luxury. However, you can only stand at the gate and look at it from quite a distance, you cannot enter the premises of the building.Visited December 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 26 July 2024

This palace is very magnificent, which shows the prosperity of the Malaysian state.
The existence of the king, called Yang Dipertuan Agong, can be seen from the position of the flag. If the flag is at the top of the pole, it means that the king is in the palace. However, visitors can only see everything from behind the fence.

It was just an ok experience not a highlight of visiting Kuala Lumpur for me. The most exciting part was when the guards changed out the horses. But interesting fact I learned is that Malaysia changed Kings every 4 years by each state.

I saw this National Palace of Kuala Lumpur and I saw the Palace and it's look like a Mosque. It's beautiful through its architectural design of Gold. This place is only good for people who likes to visit National Palace. The only thing that I've not appreciated is the tourist can't go inside the Palace, and the place is very hot that you can't stay for long hours because there's no waiting shed in the area. Just bring your umbrella, cap, towel and water. This is not accessible place for walking distance. You have to avail KL Hop On Hop Off Bus Tour to see this place.

If you take a public transportation,it is very difficult to approach. Google map is not reliable. I have a very difficult walk along the road side. It is not walkable. Call a grab will be better. As others said, you just take a few shoots outside. It’s all depends. Not worth the walk though.

Istana Negara is the national Palace which is so nicely built on a very large piece of land maybe several acres. We had a wonderful time here looking around and taking pictures. The guards were really friendly. The landscape is so beautiful and the building stands out among the greenery. This is the place to stand and take some fresh breath of air. We greatly appreciated that this place was open to the public and people should not miss this opportunity .

We only saw it from outside. The horses and guards are the attraction. The hill venue makes it appear unapproachable.

Google maps show a walking route from Tan Sambanthan monorail station , behind a school and along a small roadway , is it possible to enter this way or is the entrance another way ?
Thanks

You cant actually go into the palace
Think Buckingham palace
You can walk upto the gates take photos with the guards
We actually stood inside the box with the guard but thats it
If you plan to walk make sure you have hats water etc as the weather will be hot
Is that on the top of hill ? As the entrance is down the slope
Hope this is helpful
