- GavIreland84 contributionsFun day outWe went on a day trip from Kos to bodrum , a lot of queues on and off the ferry and passport control. Lovely marina with lots of nice restaurants etc , the souks and bazaar were a bit of fun, there all selling poor imitations really but you can have a laugh with most of the traders if you enjoy a bit of haggling. We bought nothing other than lovely Turkish delights and some other sweets. Tried some of the local cuisine, plenty of places to choose from and got the ferry back . Overall a good day out and we enjoyed it and would recommend to pass a day of your holidayVisited May 2023Travelled with familyWritten 30 December 2023
- DunelmArtsAberdeen, United Kingdom1,172 contributionsSouvenir shoppingIt's a tourist trap, but it's fun to haggle with the stall holders and shop keepers. While there are some genuine Turkish products, there are also lots and lots of fake designer goods. Sizes for these turn out to be very small! I bought a gorgeous handmade walnut and mother of pearl backgammon set from Anatolia Turkish Handcrafts, so there are some genuine products for sale too.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 April 2024

Lots of haggling to be had but there is also lots of pressure to enter their shop or make a purchase. This is a good place to buy some souvenirs. If shopping is your thing, then you should spend some time here.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 May 2024

The roads of the old bazar are very dirty, there's also fish selling facilities there. The bars are so dirty and expensive and they don't even have a toilet. You have to go to the paid public toilet (if you must). The shops try to trap every tourist with very high prices. A lady wanted to sell us a pair of fake sneakers for 50 euros and when we were about to leave she was trying to keep us by saying how much do you want to pay, a few others did the same.. Very disappointing... The most important fact is that there's nothing special to see ot do... about the place in general and I don't advise anyone to visit.

You have to go to a different city with an open mind and understand why it is the way it is.
Many people complain that if it is full of piracy, if it is expensive, it is not worth it.
Well, I look at the positive things about the place.
First, a city with history, it has cultural places to visit and there are not a few of them.
The city is super clean and pretty in general.
Good food and pretty decent prices for a tourist place
If it is full of piracy, no one forces you to buy it, it is your decision and if the sellers are aggressive and that does not matter, you keep walking without speaking to them and that's it. If they bother you and if you want to buy, try to haggle aggressively if they sell it to you. Super, if you don't neglect it, someone else will, try to look for quality copies that are expensive but the cheap ones are in the trash, it's better not to buy them
Give the place a chance, I think a day or two is enough.
The beaches are beautiful but cold

Bodrum Bazaar is like many others in Turkish tourist resorts. I did not find it special, interesting or attractive. If I needed anything, I went into the locals’ shops or markets and got the same articles for less money. The bazaar in e.g. Antalya offers much more diversified goods.

The times are not adhered to at all. Everything took FOREVER at both the port of Kos and the port of Bodrum.
Every border crossing took 2 hours on both the outward and return journeys. All in all, you spend exactly as much time standing around at the border as you have time to explore the island at the actual destination.
Bodrum itself is a beautiful little town with the usual tourist prices. We were practically pushed through every street by the crowds and that in October... if you want to buy cheap things at cheap prices, this is the place for you.

Nothing special tbh. We were expecting something different from this place. Prices are high, you can drop them but not as much. Some items cost the same price as the original ones.
Most sellers are rude, they get aggressive if you don't want to accept their prices. Some were very nice and we bought everything from them.
Food was average and expensive, better find different restaurants outside the bazaar.
We came for one day from Kos and were disappointed.

Nothing characteristic seems to stand at the Italian markets with so much vu cumprà. As soon as you arrive from the port there is a first bazaar that is NOT the real one. But also at the real bazaar Prices are not as low as it is advertised, for fake shorts and t-shirt they ask you from 20 to 35 euros and if stretches are offended. In addition, 3 out of 3 stalls fooled us by giving us sizes different from those agreed and that we had seen without realizing it (even underwear!). Unfortunately, we only checked the stuff once at the hotel.
If you go there treat yourself and check what they put in your purse.
Very good instead eat in REAL Turkish places where only Turks go in the back of the bazaars. For 4.5 euros each we ate and drank typical things, the Owner did not even speak English.

Hi. I have few question.
1. Are all the shops open on every day of the week?
2. Is paying in Turkish Lira more profitable for You than in USD/EUR?
3. Can I pay in random shops like fake designer goods with revolut card or better to have cash?
Written 27 July 2024
Hi, what currency do they accept in Bodrum Bazaar. Do they take euros or sterling. Also do the stall holders/ traders tale credit/ debit cards, thanks
Written 18 March 2024
A Bodrum accettano solo lira turca o anche euro in contanti?
Written 6 June 2023
è meglio portare la lira turca, se hai euro o dollari USA, puoi sempre cambiare attraverso molti uffici di cambio valute che sono ovunque

Hi can anyone advice the market on Tuesday do they sell fabric or is it just clothes?.Thankyou in advance
Written 3 October 2020
Consigliato andarci
