Absolutely stunning natural habitat zoo. Lots and lots of lots of walking though. They do have a tram but it only stops at two different locations throughout the zoo. There is a neat little playground area for the kids. They have a beautiful lake, swamp area, African safari area, mountainous area, polar bears and sea lions... just about every type... More

I love visiting the NC Zoo. Our zoo is ranked in the top 10 and it should be. My advice is to break your visit into 2 days. North America one day and Africa the next day. The tram is great and saves you from much walking,

We were a group of 8, perfect day, perfect weather, perfect place. We didn't have to rush, enjoyed our time there, lots of things to see, Everyone has a special animal they spent time viewing. Not overly expensive. We did bring a lunch to eat in a nearby park, not only to save money, but some had dietary issues or... More

Fewer crowds after Christmas made for visit to North America section of park a delight. Despite limited food and concessions, the service and quality was not diminished. We grabbed some freshly made sandwiches immediately after entering park and enjoyed them at the well designed and placed picnic/playground. Nearby Polar bear, seals and puffins were all a treat and excited my... More

We decided two days after Christmas to take a day trip to the zoo. We live about 2 hours away and it was well worth the $15.00 a person (adult) to get in. We walked a lot but the tram is available to get to some areas.

We'll where to begin the tickets we're a great price. This was just a midsummer trip with the kids to get out of the house and see the animals. To our surprise we ended up seeing about five animals and half of those were from a distance. It was cool to see the giraffes up close but that was the... More

Enjoyed a great day at the zoo. Staff is friendly and the zoo is huge. Definitely be prepared to walk. Our visit was made even better by the low number of crowds and amazing weather.

My daughters and I visited this zoo over the summer because we have been to riverbanks so many times that we wanted a new experience. It's a very nice zoo with large habitats for the animals. The downside to the visit was the heat and all the walking. I would definitely recommend going around the cooler months like April, September... More

Since it is the only big attraction in Asheboro, there will always be first time visitors. But once you visited, you won't want to come back. That's why the zoo needs financial help. Locals don't even visit. The zoo is basically a large mountain so lots of walking up and down hill to see the animals hide from the hot sun.Who'd... More
