The strain station is located on the second floor and the shows are every 1/2 hr. It brought back memories of when I used to a have large platform layout. Took about 30 mins for the show from start to finish. The only slight downside was the $8 per adult entrance fee.

The location is upstairs in the Merchants Square Mall, and you have to look for it - just follow the signs. Once inside you will be wowed! There is so much to look at, you have to walk around a few times. They put on a "show" on the half hour when all the lights, trains, weather effects etc. run.... More

I took my granddaughter to see the exhibit and she loved it. A variety of trains and enough things to see to make it worth the visit. Loved the storm and rain. They even have stepstools placed throughout the room so children can climb on up and get a good view.

Fantastic and reasonably priced for Grandparents to treat the grandkids. Miles of model train tracks in a room decorated with city and suburban details. Trains and cars and tiny animations all in motion. Lights dim and rain drops fall from the ceiling to a model pond in the middle of the display. Owner is very friendly to the customers. All... More

Walk into an unassuming building, then up the stairs to find this absolute hidden gem in Allentown. 18,000 feet of the most detail oriented train tracks. Tours run every 30 minutes, so check the website for times; Tickets are cheap at around $8 for adults and less for kids. The website offers a coupon as well. Who should go? If... More

New to living in PA, I'm regularly exploring and trying to find things to entertain my active 2-year old and 4-year old. This place looked interesting, but I was completely blown away and impressed upon arrival. It is such an unassuming place and inside it became magical. The detail and care are just amazing. Reviewers complained about the 30-minute show,... More

This is an impressive train exhibit with lots to look at and enjoy. We brought my 2 year old who LOVES trains and he really enjoyed it. It's nice that they have step stools around for the little ones to see better. BUT-- we were really disappointed that you only get 30 minutes to see the exhibition!! We didn't even... More

My wife and I were traveling through PA and chose Merchant Square as a break stop place half way. The builder/owner/host of the model train layout gave a brief introduction then let his guests wonder around at leisure. It is impressive. I was surprised my wife enjoyed it too originally indulging me on this choice but she liked all the... More

Visiting Allentown for a weekend getaway and decided to stop in to see the model trains. Admissions is $8 and it was well worth it for the 30 minute showing. The model trains and thematic village/city set ups are really nicely done. Glad we had stopped in.
