If you are in Pennsylvania, go to Altoona and visit the Railroads Memorial Museum. It has a great history of the railroad industry in Pennsylvania. The pictures and displays are fantastic. Plus there are decommissioned cars and engines to look at. They are also connected with the Horseshoe curve. When you buy a ticket for the museum it also covers... More

The museum is very nicely done and interesting, especially for train fans. It is small so the visit there is a short one. Suitable for children. One can have birthdays and other events there.

During the summer they have concerts at the museum and are reasonably priced. There is good food and drinks for purchase. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy.

I visited this museum about 25 years ago and got the opportunity to visit again in October 2016. I was amazed at the growth and the new exhibits that are displayed. Touring the Main Building is very worthwhile with a lot of education and historical railroading information about Altoona and railroading in general. The Roundhouse is a fine addition that... More

This museum tells all about Altoona's importance to the railroad industry during the 19th and early 20th centuries. The museum itself is very well done and informative not only of the railroad but of the lives of the employees and towns people. Great history!

If you love trains this is worth a quick stop. Lots of local flavor and train information not a huge place takes about an hour to get through.

Went here to burn off the morning rain before seeing the curve. Museum is nicely done. Two movies give the history of Altoona and the curve. Be sure to also check out the roundhouse which houses GG1 #4913.

This is a great place to see if your in Altoona. The history of the railroad industry awaits you inside. It is worth the price of admission. You can also visit Horseshoe Curve on the same day with the ticket that you purchase at this museum. The only suggestion that I would make is to either turn on more lights... More

A must-see before or after going to the Horseshoe Curve, the museum is extremely well-done and entertaining. We spent hours fascinated by the exhibits and remarkable artifacts, and came away vowing to return in the future as we didn't even see everything there is to see. Highly recommended and well worth the admission fee.

It's amazing to think that Altoona was the largest Railroad building and repairing place, at one time, in all of the USA! This museum does a great job of bringing that home, and showing all about what Railroad life was like then. There's lots to see inside, outside, and in the roundhouse! I'm glad that we went! We went here... More
