Hitchcock woods is an incredibly special, magical urban forest in the middle of the small southern town of Aiken, SC. Close to 2,000 acres of beautiful woods and wildlife. Miles of riding trails for those who enjoy equestrian activities- with natural jumps for equestrians who...More

Hitchcock Woods really is lovely. We were there in the summer, but I would imagine autumn is a great time to visit. Paths are plentiful; I especially recommend Cathedral Aisle and Surrey Trace trails. Just watch out for horses -- and the evidence they leave...More

So I foxhunt in these beautiful Hitchcock Woods on Tuesdays and Saturdays during hunt season. No worries to all you PETA folk as it is a drag hunt meaning no animals are chased for sport. The hounds simply chase a scent and are rewarded at...More

My friend and I are new to the area and had a lot of trouble finding this place!!! There are no signs and GPS doesn't help. Have to rely on directions from locals. Other than that I love taking hikes here and enjoy seeing people...More

I took some time to go for a walk in Hitchcock woods. On the map the place is huge so there are several places to enter and each might be different. The area I walked in was nice and quiet. I was told by some...More

The woods are great for riding horses (they tell me) and, for attending events, they are quite pleasant, quiet and relaxing. For general walking, they are great (get a map), but don't expect to be wowed by the scenery. The annual horse show there is...More

This is the epitome of Aiken. You can walk, with or without your dog; you can ride a horse on the many, many miles of trails. There are maps of the trails and the woods, and rules you must abide by (they are reasonable). You...More

There are maps at the entrance to Hitchcock Woods that give you a variety of options. One of the issues was that there was no way to determine the lengths of each of the trails or the degree of difficulty. Unfortunately we weren't very well...More

I ride my horses here as often as I can. The trails are well marked, some flat, some steep hills. It is just a gorgeous place to ride. If you are walking, many of the trails are flat and easy to navigate.

Nice place to study and relax. Also a nice place to feed the ducks. I recommend for a romantic evening or relaxation. Good place to clear your head.

There are places that board horses in Aiken. Your best bet would be to Google Aiken Horse Boarding. We walk in Hitchcock often and always see riders.
