Up the stairs - and when you get there the sunset view was beautiful. There are trails to follow along the lake. Was a very nice place to see a sunset. Many people had wine and were sitting on the rocks.

We should have known better when we told the car rental employee from Austin that we were headed to Mount Bonnell and she looked at us with a blank stare. I tried to pronounce it differently, but she had no clue as to what it...More

It’s a very short hike to some good views. There are a couple of picnic tables at the top, but if they are full there are plenty of flat rocks to sit on on the trail back.

We went Friday evening for sunset, so I was concerned about parking. No need, there is plenty of parking and a lot of spots still available, even on a weekend at sunset. We went straight up the stairs (approximately 100 steps), walked around up there...More

A great place to visit to get a birds eye view of the area. It was only moderately busy when we went mid-morning on a Sunday in November so we had no problem snapping a few pics without having to wait for an opening. We...More

This is a nice spot to check out the views of Lake Austin and the Colorado River. The hiking trail to the top of the overlook is short and there was plenty of parking.

A great place for great views. Best part is that you can go on kayaking and oaring in the lake nearby to relax

The views from top are super awesome. The weather also feels pretty nice on top. The trail is not very difficult and people of any age can easily do it.

Every first-time visitor to Austin should take a trip up Mt. Bonnell. A beautiful lookout over Lake Austin and west toward the Hill Country. A short climb for an hour's respite.

I believe so. Leash is recommended. I don’t think there are any restrictions for dogs.

It is not long at all, the hard part is the stairs but u can avoid that by going through the farther entrance . If u decide to take the stairs it might be like 5 to 8 min up.

I recommend a flat sidewalk around a park instead; but if you specifically want to make the climb for the views, I would recommend taking a friend to assist you.

Sandals are fine. Especially if you take the stairs.
