We are relatively new in Austin and had friends visiting from out of town and we both visited for the first time. Great views of the lake and hills but we were disappointed that there is no view to UT or downtown. Still, very nice and worth a visit and the drive is nice.

A trip to Mount Bonnell, to take a walk up the (I think) 89 steps to the top to view the river and sight of Austin is a great way to top off a Sunday afternoon. There was plenty of parking along the road (I suspect of the spots were full, it would be a good idea to postpone the... More

Any trip to Austin, Texas would not be complete without a visit to Mt. Bonnell off 2222! After a climb up 100+ stairs, you will find yourself looking over Lady Bird Lake and the magnificent hill country that makes Austin so special. With a view of the famous Pennybacker Bridge to the West and downtown and UT to the East,... More

A short staircase up a hill leads to a somewhat pretty view, but it's REALLY not anything special, and there are certainly 1,000 more entertaining things (even free) to do in Austin (e.g. Zilker Park, HOPE Gallery, Barton Greenbelt, Bull Creek Greenbelt, etc., etc.).

A must visit for tourists. I've been to Mount Bonnell many times. Love the view each time. Good view of the hill country, the lake and some of the nicest homes in Austin. Popular with tourist and locals. Some come just to run the stairs. You can take the stairs up or walk up the slope to the right of... More

We are very fortunate in the City of Austin to have such a special place as Mount Bonnell preserved for all to visit. The most beautiful and romantic time to visit is in the evening on the night of a full moon. You have to do your homework in advance, so you know what time sunset is, but the experience... More

Beautiful scenery. Great place to take pictures... walk up the steps were not as bad as everyone made it seem. Like walking up 3 flights of stairs, straight up.

Nice view with a very short hike (too short for us). Austin skyline in a nutshell, easy place to find.

This is one of the last places in Austin remaining to get out in the middle of town and enjoy beautiful, natural views of the town, hills, and river. Pick a sunny, preferably cool time to make the hike. It's only a 100-200 foot climb to a beautiful, commanding view.

Took the 12 minute drive from downtown to catch sunrise. 106 stairs up to the top to watch the sunrise. Place is exactly as you expect, park on the side of the road, walk up a flight of stairs and view for 10-15 mins. Not a must see but a nice addition to our trip
