Great vibe in the area. Shops offer quirky items which some you find in the main shops- some you dont. The vibe is very trendy and promotes the "Keep Austin Weird" ethos. We started at Magnolia and worked our way back Downtown. Easy 3km!

I came here thinking that this was a funking resale area. Most of the shops, however, sold trinkets for tourists. This was not what I expected.

Many restaurants, shops, and things to see! There wasn't actually much live music the Sunday afternoon we spent there but was still a few bands in the outdoor restaurant areas. Most had a pretty long wait at lunch time. Several quick food truck or walk...More

This 1/2 to mile long section of Congress is great fun and one I recommend to all out of town guests. There is a collection of Austin's favorite restaurants (My ATF here is Enoteca, and my daughters ATF is Hopdoddy), ice cream shops, food trailers...More

If you like rubbing shoulders with hoards of drunken stoned teenagers and rednecks...this is your kind of place. Bars are smelly and I would not trust the food. Saw more health code violations than I could count.

There's so many restaurants to choose from and the Crow Bar is a must see, it's a small bar with southern feel. No much parking but we had a great time exploring the area.

What can I say? South Congress Avenue, lovingly referred to as SoCo, is part of what keeps Austin weird and wonderful. Over the years, old, run-down hotels and shops have given way to trendy boutiques, unique dining experiences, galleries and music venues. This is THE...More

You can go almost anywhere to hear the music. We just dropped into bars. Check out Austin music website that will tell you who is on. If you like jazz then try the elephant bar on congress

Yes, but Uber and Lyft are no longer available. Instead, download the "Ride Austin" app; a similar startup created by mostly former Uber & Lyft drivers.

When I went, I had trouble finding parking. There is the back angled parking mentioned, but it was all full when I got there--it can get very crowded! I was able to find parking on a street parallel a few blocks back, but... More
