Not the best place I've ever visited- maybe more for some people but not for me. Way too many beggars and others jumping in your face looking for money. Planned parenthood folks jumped out asking me to "give them a few minutes". Nah. Not in...More

If you have a few free hours the SOCO District is the place to go. Lot's of interesting shops with locally made quality items - jewelry, clothing, crafts and more. Many interesting restaurants with outdoor seating and fun people watching. It is also the place...More

Cool Shops, Good eats! This area seemed to take us into "Old Austin" where maybe not too much has changed over the year. Hippie, Electic... Austin!

SoCo keeps Austin quirky but didn't appeal to my shopping taste. Some boutique style shops with expensive unique tops, a cool costume shop, some jewelry shops, restaurants and gift shops. Not particularly attractive but unique in its own way.

Wonderful place to spend a Sunday afternoon. Strolling down south congress. So many fun and cute shops. The costume shop Lucy in Disguise and the Big Top candy shop were my faves! Great afternoon!

We stayed in a holiday rental just off South Congress Avenue, giving us great access to the SoCo neighbourhood. Popular, generally inexpensive eateries abound in the area, along with some other quirky shops and a conveniently located grocer - Farm to Market, check it out....More

Walking distance around 2 miles roughly. Not many buses better off getting a cab, or walk

Parking is very hard to find. You may have to park down the street and walk. If you are staying downtown, take a cab (I believe Uber is being discontinued in Austin). Getting there early in the day is better for parking... More
