Nice place for a walk. A few interesting shops. Check out the costume shop! Hopdoddy's Burgers are great!

Fantastic neighborhood!

This stretch of South Congress Avenue will keep you occupied and happy for days. You can divide it up into categories: food and drink; music; shops; and, of course, people watching. The Continental Club and C-boys are two of the great music venues I visited. Stop at Amy's Ice Cream for amazing flavors and add-ins. The food -- pretty much anything you like is there. Try Guero's for Tex-Mex. Just strolling around, you'll find shops that sell everything from cowboy boots to musical instruments to hip clothing.

Cool area to walk
Feb 2020
Each time we visit Austin, we try to come here to spend some time, walking up & down the street & visiting the unique shops & restaurants.
This visit we spent a 2 hours cruising up one side & down the other of this street.
We stopped in a bunch of shops to see their unique items.
@ negatives - I don't like the prking on SoCo where you have to back in.
The other thing is the amount of new construction here. They are building large buildings & taking away some of the cool vibe this area has. Growth is not always good.

Interesting shops

We were looking at finding something WEIRD to take home from Austin. Had nice time. The orginal Torchy Tacos' is near by. Wish we would have seen that before we had to leave.

My favorite place to go
Dec 2019
love SoCo! Great food, music, and shopping. What more do you need? As an Austinite, this is where I love to hangout. Parking may be a bit tricky depending on what time you go but you can always Uber. A tourist must-do!

great place to walk around and shop
Aug 2019
It's fun to walk up and down to visit the shops and get some food. I usually like to park on a side street rather than navigate parking on Congress itself.

SOCO is full of Funky, eclectic shops. Wonderful places to eat. The iconic Continental Club is there and is a great venue to stand and watch live music. .

Soco shopping
Feb 2020 • Friends
This area is listed as a 24-hour shopping center. We left a concert at the Scoot Inn at 11: 15 p.m. and headed over to Soco shopping area. The area was then closing by midnight. The block and surrounding area looked pretty dark and dingy. They should change their advertising if they're not open 24 hours it was a waste of time and gas to drive by there.

A Fun, Quirky Shopping Experience
Jan 2020
This district has lots of art and food options. The shops seem to cater largely to tourists, but in a way that's fun and authentic feeling. If you're looking for something to help you "Keep Austin Weird", this is the place.

Nice way to spend a lazy afternoon

Nice walk from downtown with great little shops and restaurants. Worth the visit. Grab a coffee and take a stroll. Often has outdoor market. Check out the cool murals too.
