Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you like music, and don't like bar scenes then this is a must see! It is an outdoor courtyard with music 7 days a week. The drinks are cold and relatively cheap and the music of high quality. It also is family friendly so you can bring your kids if you want.

Went here while on business in Austin. Depending on the band, the place can be packed or very subdued. The main live music area is outside in a courtyard between two buildings with the bar area inside one building and the bathrooms in another building. The courtyard has small round tables and chairs and a large dance area right in front of the stage. The place can be really crowded for a good band. The unique aspect of Cedar Street is that our group didn't feel too old (we're all in our 40's). Can't say that about other Austin bars/clubs.

I visited as part of a conference. The venue is unique with bars on both sides and a covered, open courtyard in the middle for the stage. The night we visited the band was very good and the food provided was very tasty.

We went to CSC to watch the Spazmatics (EXCELLENT 80's cover band). The place had a VERY large crowd (though we were told it can be twice the size- insane seeing as it really is a courtyard!) with great positive energy. Though there is an 'inside' we chose to stay outside and sweat. And I do mean, SWEAT! Between the size of the crowd and the fact you are outdoors, you WILL sweat (it is Austin in the summer, afterall). That being said, we found it very easy to get drinks (the bartenders are pro's). The sound levels were perfect and the crowd rowdy, singing along, dancing. we would def recommend going if you can handle that environment.

Great outdoor spot to listen to great music and dance. Sort of a large alley between two buildings. The night we went the temperature was about 95! So fairly uncomfortable but cold drinks and dancing to APB (Austin Party Band) made it worthwhile. We also heard the last couple of songs played by a couple of great guitarists earlier in the evening

Go on Wednesday and enjoy the quirky performance of the Spazmatics! Pretend nerds with protective head gear covering 80's girl bands. Surprisingly entertaining!

While in Austin, my husband and I were looking for a low-key, outdoor place with quality music. This place was it! We went 2 nights in a row we loved it so much. It is located in a little alley courtyard and set up with round tables, very cute setting. First night was a great jazz band, second night was a trio who played covers. Both amazing acts. Would highly recommend this place if you want quality music without the noisy bar crowd!

The bands are fantastic and the scene almost always a good one. You get your dancing in, I garantee you, all under the stars and the vibe of this great city. If you can make a wednesday eve possible, check out the Spasmatics. 80s tunes and funky show makes for a mighty good time. $10 gets you in and well worth it every time.

Happened to be able to go to the Cedar Street Courtyard with a bunch of friends and see the Spazmatics play. Think 80's nerds in a small outdoor pavilion just blasting away great classic rock and they do a great job! Thoroughly enjoyed myself and must say this was the best experience I have had in downtown Austin. Can't wait to return!
