These botanical gardens were quite a bit bigger than expected! The rose garden, Japanese garden and pre-historic garden are all highlights. Other points of interest is the succulents garden, herb garden, butterfly walk and Austin's Green Garden which displays several small vignettes of plants that...More

My husband and I visited the Botanical Gardens today (mid Jan in Texas). It was $4 for both of us to go inside since we are residents of Austin. Of course, that is a great price for the amount of land you can cover while...More

My wife and I visited the garden in early November. They were having a special event so the regular parking was filled and we had to park down the street, but that was just a minor inconvenience. We entered the gardens at the Prehistoric Garden...More

We went with high expectations based on the good reviews but were really disappointed with what we saw. There was not much to see, the rose garden had hardly 10 roses. May be the timing was wrong, but the garden was green everywhere except that...More

This Botanical garden was huge and beautiful. We especially enjoyed the Japanese Garden, the Waterfalls, the Prehistoric Garden and the Butterfly areas.. The only downfall is that there is a major highway close by which added a constant hum of traffic, but I just tuned...More

The gardens were nice and mostly well kept but it's proximity to a highway didn't make it the serene and peaceful place you might expect. The Japanese Garden is the highlight. Cost of admission was cheap. Good, inexpensive place to visit to kill time waiting...More

This place has been in Austin before Austin was cool. Classic Austin! The way I think of Austin, beautiful greenery and limestone interests, tucked away in Zilker Park. Try it the week of the Zilker Garden Fest.

As far as botanical gardens go, this one is about average. There are some nice features, including a Koi pond and park benches in strategic, shady locations. There are a few old log buildings near the entrance. The foliage is diverse, but not as compelling...More

It was $2 USD to get in (I Uber/Lyfted) so it might be more if you drive with your own car to park. It was fortunately sunny when I went and I loved strolling through the grounds. The Japanese section was my favourite because the...More

While visiting Austin come see why this place is renowned all over Texas. It really is pretty. The different sents and colors are all here for you to enjoy. Perhaps not for very young children although I have seen families with teenagers enjoying this place...More

The Botanical Garden was right by Barton Springs. After spending a couple of hours in the water, we headed here. Lovely gardens. Easy to spend an hour here wandering. Very reasonable admission. It was a nice "add-on" to the main attraction of Barton Springs.

While there are no picnic tables, I doubt that anyone on staff will tell you to get out if they see you eating. Definitely no fires.

At the garden, pets are not allowed, but there is a section in the park( the opposite area) that people go with their pets and play there, just be sure to bring a leash( since I do not know the rules regarding that).
