Turtles!

This is a lovely park with a boardwalk over the wetlands. We always see turtles here, but have also seen frogs, snakes, fish, and lovely birds. Lovely escape into nature.

A delightful walking path through the woods opens onto a boardwalk across the marsh. One can admire the construction work of the beavers in the area and watch the bird life activity. On a sunny day it is amazing to see how many turtles can sun themselves on a single log. Remember to bring your binoculars and your camera. If... More

We enjoy visiting Huntley Meadows in every season. The park has well-drained trails and elevated wooden walkways that make it easy for anyone to get up close to the wetland without getting a foot wet. The several trails take visitors through woodlands leading to the open wetlands where the elevated walkways take visitors through areas of rushes and aquatic plants.... More

I was ingressing. It's a park. big ducks, harbor, I have great photos of the harbor area. nice landscaping. people don't pick up the dog poop there. I was surprised. Maybe it's a Western States thing?

This is a great place to see wildlife close to the city. Boardwalks over the water get you close. It is different every time you go.

Beautiful scenes. The wood planks on the bridge and walkways over the water are slippery when wet otherwise, this place is great for running and just walking with kids. They can find turtles and birds. And the reeds and grasses are really lovely in the early morning.

This is a lovely park & walking path in Alexandria...but you feel miles away from urban areas. Unique birds, wetlands & nice visitors' center. So peaceful. I've enjoyed every visit here & have seen many bird species!

Practically year round, Huntley Meadows is a great spot for nature walks, quiet relaxing walks, and photography. I have photographed Owls, Osprey, Kingfishers, Wood Ducks, Great Blue Heron, Little Green Heron, Bald Eagles, Woodpeckers of all varieties, beavers, snakes, migrating small birds of all kinds, and hummingbirds. Take your longest lens, a tripod, and arrive as early as you can.... More

We have frequented this park for several years. It is a wonderland for nature lovers. My children love the frogs, birds, ducks, dragonflies. I'm so thankful this park is here! The indoor visitor center is great too -- and don't miss the frog pond !!
