We went from the cemetery after the opening hours. It was quite a while we got there on a completely dark cycle road near the motorway. It is in at least 20 min walk far from both nearest metro station.

This monument is at the end of the bus tour at Arlington and worth the trip. It is massive in size, and the workmanship is incredible. It is definitely something you need to see especially in today's world where we see so much disrespect. More people need to take a walk through Arlington.

Its a very imposing memorial. Its much bigger than you realize once you are standing next to it. Plenty of parking available.

Had no idea of the scale of the monument. Another truly iconic image and so pleased we were able to see it in the flesh. An amazing piece of casting that is fitting for such an incredible event in ww2, but also a focal point for us marines in all conflicts. A real must see.

Visiting the memorial is always sobering, but also a prideful moment. Those who have served as a Marine, has had a Marine serve in their family, or are proud of our military heritage, this is one of the place that need to be visited when in the DC/Virginia area.

The base of the U.S. Marine Corps (Iwo Jima) War Memorial is inscribed with all the places that the Marine Corps has engaged in battles since 1775. The memorial itself is iconic and you'll find yourself circling it to see the details from every angle.

One of the first memories I have of WW2 was that iconic photo this memorial is based on and the memorial does the photo justice. It is a bit out of the way, but well worth the trip.

This was very nice and absolutely majestic! Easy parking and not a long walk. We went at night and I think the way it was lit up added to the beauty. Beautiful and touching.

It's worth visiting to also read the inscriptions on the memorial, you only get a sense of the sacrifice this way.
