Very cool and quick stop. The spires are truly amazing to see; an engineering marvel. Make it a quick stop after the Iwo Jima memorial.

This is a fitting tribute to our air forces from the beginning to now. The silver pillars that stream into the sky are impressive. Wish the gift shop was open but was closed on a weekday, with a sign saying to check out the internet.

The soaring sculpture is meant to represent jets taking off and overlooks Arlington. There are monuments to the various Air Force missions, especially detailed for WWII. There is a beautiful etched glass memorial to lost airmen. Leave yourself about 20 minutes, parking is free.

We visited this memorial on a sunny cloudless day and the stainless steel spires seemed to go on forever into the sky. The memorial is on a hill overlooking DC which is amazing. The spires can also be seen from many areas of the city as well as Arlington National Cemetery.

Not only the memorial itself is worth a closer view, but the oversight over Washington itself is worth a walk up to the Air Force Memorial!!

This is one of my favorite memorials in the area. If you've ever seen the USAF Thunderbirds, this memorial will remind you of them. The upward sweeping motion of the design is uplifting and celebratory.

The Air Force Memorial is a sight that I think many miss seeing and in doing so miss an amazing experience. The memorial is not on the standard DC tours, except for pointing out the spires out in the distance. While tours take you across the river to the Iwo Jima Memorial (my all time favorite) and to Arlington National... More

This memorial is a reminder of all of the airmen who lost their lives over so many years in the service of the United States.

The crowds here were far less than most of the other memorials. The view of Washington DC, the Pentagon, and Arlington Cemetery from this location were an added benefit. This is a beautiful memorial, especially if you can be here on clear and sunny day.
