Powerful memorial to this horrific event. This memorial includes various chairs representing the victims of the terrible attacks on 9/11, as well as a listing of names and a large US flag. This is the only area near the Pentagon where one can take picutre.s

The design of this Memorial is very carefully crafted to symbolize the details of lives lost -- distinguishing between passengers on the plane and workers inside the Pentagon; and also arranging individual benches dedicated to each victim according to their age.

If you lived through 9/11 then you know the history behind this memorial. My husband and I went on a Saturday and the Pentagon was closed, which made parking extremely easy. Getting to the memorial wasn't easy but once we got close we found a security guard who told us we could park where we were at and the memorial... More

This is a very simple and moving memorial to the 9-11 victims. The names of victims are engraved on benches set at an angle to replicate the plane's trajectory when it hit the building. Under each of the 184 benches is a small pool of water that is lit at night. Time lines show the ages of the victims that... More

There is a telephone number at the front that you can use to get a guided tour which was very worthwhile. It tells why the benches are set up like they are and was very informative. It tells where the plane actually hit and has interviews with survivors.

I feel like this memorial is often overlooked since it is not across the river with the majority of memorials, but it shouldn't be. The memorial itself was built with so much symbolism that I am always finding out something new. At night each pool is light up creating beautiful bouncing light across the grounds. A lovely place for reflection.

Solemn, and eye opening, if you remember the attack, you will feel it here as you look around and consider the attack on our freedoms.

A lovely memorial. I just wish there was an explanation of why the benches face the way they do. Hard to tell.

Worth the stop. This memorial was well planned and thought out. Great dedication to those who lost their life this tragic day. Whether the ones lost were on the plane that crashed into the Pentagon or if it was a hero working in the Pentagon. Jump on the metro and follow it here. Stop here when in town.

Much thought was put into this memorial and whilst it isn't on the scale of the New York memorial, when you understand the thought behind its design, you appreciate it more. We heard more about it when we did the Pentagon Tour. It is worth seeing and we were told it is even more moving if you see it at... More
