I visited the Park to run the parkrun while visiting Washington DC. It is a 5km timed run along paths and boardwalks on the Island. The park is natural with maintained dirt paths and boardwalks and the memorial to Theodore Roosevelt- a quite tranquil oasis

A surprise to find this peaceful spot so close to DC. Parking may be a challenge so get there early. An easy, flat hiking trail so you can bring young kids.
