We were not looking for this, but happened on it as we returned from a business meeting. He is magnificent. He is the tallest buddha! There is a small park around him and you can go into him and ride the elevator to various floors for more education and views. There is a small market area before you enter where... More

This Buddha statue has the Guinness record for being the biggest in the world so its worth a visit if you have a car. There is plenty of free parking space and entrance is only 800yen which includes entry to the garden and inside of the Buddha. I was really disappointed to find out that they didn't let dogs even... The highlight is the giant Buddha but the garden is also worth seeing. It was almost the end of hydrangea season but announcement boards say different flowers are planted by season. I thought it would be cool in April with cherry blossom and moss phlox or in October with cosmos flowers. It seems you can pick up some flowers. Lastly... More

I have passed this on a couple of trips and thought I must see it one day! Not disappointed! This thing is huge and stands 120 mtrs tall, four times the size of the Statue of Liberty. The entry price of ¥800 allows you to go inside and up in the lift, entering from the central doors which open like... More

I visit this place frequently. This time I went with my family and friends. It was very nice to go inside of the standing Buddha. We went to 5th floor, 85m up, at the chest of the Buddha. We observed beautiful landscapes in four directions. Then back to 4th floor where we could see some souvenirs. Then down to 3rd... More

The statue is far bigger than it seems in photos and videos and is worth the visit from Tokyo. Beautiful park surrounding the daibutsu & interesting to see the construction history of it inside. There are viewing points inside the buddha from which you can see a nice view at about 120 m. Few things to note though - it... More

This was my second visit to this majestic buddha. The first time it was mid-week and drizzly so the park was very quiet. But this time the sun was shining and it was a Sunday, so it had a lot more atmosphere. It was busy but certainly not crowded. There were markets selling food and pottery, entertainment and a very...
