Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We decided to skip a long tour to Gunga beach to visit this lovely beach that lots of Brazilians were using that was just about 1 mile from the cruise port. The arts and crafts / tourist market there was cheaper than in Salvador and the beach was actually lovely! It’s not fancy, and the water, warm as a bathtub, wasn’t clear enough for good snorkeling, but everyone was super friendly there. Vendors were selling everything imaginable on the beach (we were there on a Saturday) - from $1.20 (6 Reals) beers, to shrimp and stews, desserts, and a group that chanted with drum accompaniment to sell (we think) something starchy. It didn’t feel like they catered to Americans and no one there spoke English or Spanish, but we got by with Google Translate. If you’re looking for a more authentic experience of a Brazilian beach, try this beach!

i live here for the past 4 years so,,, Maceio and its beaches are overrated in my opinion. Jatiuca, pajucara, ponta verde etc. Praia do frances... crowded, noisy, not like in the pictures let me say. i relocated in Sonho Verde, Paripueira and here, you will find great gorgeou beaches which are usually semi deserted 5 days a week and on week-end it is bearable. unless you like crowded, dirty, noisy, environment then Maceio is your desstination. For natural endless beaches, with rivers flowing through, reef you can walk to, piscina natural, good food, good prices, my region, which is 45 min away, shuld be your location. from here you can hop to Maragogy, porto de galinhas, etc.

Murky, seaweed filled beach with seaweed strewn over the sands. Once you get past the seaweed layer, it turns muddy. Crowded w dbags. Lots of trash, and not just in the water.

Just a typical urban beach, it was busy, but also a bit messy and perhaps dirty depending on the point of view. There are palm trees, loung chairs parasols and restaurant, but it lacks of the charm other beaches to the North and or South of Maceió do. I would probably say that Jatiuca and pinta verde are nicer beaches.

Alagoas is a state rich in natural beauty. Located in Maceió, Pajuçara Beach is one of the most popular natural beauties in the capital. Famous for having waters with shades of blue and green.
At the seafront, it's possible to find handicrafts of many kind of sources and buy those keepsakes to give as gifts to someone. On sundays, part of the big street of Pajuçara's beach stay closed for cars, stimulating social interaction and practice of physical activity.
Beyond all those good things, you can also find many options of food, you can swim or surf if you know how to. Take as advice that you need to always remember of your solar protector and know your limits when you're inside of the water.

A great walk along the beach. Fishing boats and palm trees make for some great photos. Plenty of opportunities to grab a umbrella, chair and coconut too!

I don't like urban beaches like that... but can be an option if you are hosted close of the beach.. I saw many beggars in the street near of the beach and didn't feel safe to walk by the streets around the beachfront. Beside the beach is crowded and noised.
The sea by ifself is beautiful and warm , this is only the compensation to the negative points....

This beach is located almost in the city centre. The beach is fully serviced with bars, restaurants and toilet facilities. Water and the beach is just beautiful, so nothing not to like.

I live in maceio. I like Pajuçara Beach because its waters are almost warm. You will not find great waves. Beach safe for children. There is a good distance between the "sand" and the sea. You can use it for walking. There is ample space. And beach umbrellas and mineral water and food offer. Not far away, there is the famous natural pool of Pajuçara that you can go there with "jangadas" , typical boats of the region. The beach of Pajuçara is great, this evaluation is of its beginning, closer to the neighborhood of Jaraguá. Come and visit Maceió. You and your family will want to visit again if they are well guided. Be careful about safety.
