Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you want to go the coral reef of Maceió, go to Pajuçara Beach, close to life-saving post where the sailing boats departs. I suggest you contact Mr Zezinho, who can be reached by whatsapp (only in Portuguese). He is the "boat's capitan" and a very polite and easygoing person who do this tour in his own sailing boat between the coral reef, specially in a exclusive area that other sailing boats don't go. His contact is: +55 82 9919-2874. The tour's time relies on the tides, and happens once a day. At least the duration is around 2 hours on average.

Little sail boats leave regularly from Pajucara beach and take you about a mile out to a sand back at low tide. Several other sail boats station there with drinks and food. The trip goes for about 30 Reales and last up to 2 hrs depending on who you are with and your "capitan".
It is best to go at the lowest tide so check out tide times online before going.
The best part for us was getting there and being able to see lots of fancy colored fish at very low depth... Negotiate in advance with the operators so that they can rent you a mask and snorkel... if you stay away from the crowd you will have incredible views.
Very worth it for the cost and time. No advance reservations needed... simply go and negotiate onsite.

At low tide little flat sailing boats called jangadas will take you out to a sandbank way off the beach. The trip there is arguably the best part as the jangadeiro pushes you out to where the wind hits and then you sail to the pools area. Calling his a pool is a bit of a misnomer because it really is sandbank that is roped of by the boats. In between is a nice very area for hanging out though swimming is hard in the shallow water. There was a large school of zebra fish at one end but not much else to see. But the whole scene was kind of a party, with some of the boats selling drinks and even food. This wasn't what you would expect when you hear "natural pools" but it was really fun and the organization and cooperation between the boat people and the people who organized them on site as well as the food and beverage department was a wonder to behold.
