It is a place worth visiting. Firstly because architecture is an example that deserves to be explored, even more because after the reform the unique details of the connection of Manaus with France became evident. Apart from that, each shop is a show apart from both souvenirs and typical meals. My tip is to leave to visit in the last days of the trip, having already explored the expensive craft shops in the center of Manaus and search prices. Arriving in the market you will already have a reference of values and can buy aware that you are paying cheaper. One store that I loved was Da Débora right at the entrance to the Mercado (opposite to the entrance to Rio), for the differentiated pieces in addition to an entire explanation about the indigenous villages and a show of sympathy.

I found it clean and organized. I had a good breakfast in a fish restaurant, I would fish something, I forgot the name, but they also serve coffee. It has a varied and delicious menu.
As for stores, some charge an additional 2.00 to pay with credit, I'll check the name later to alert you here.
There is a 24-hour cashier on site and the boat tour exit is behind the market. I made impasse with Lady Elena recommended by the waiter at the restaurant where I had coffee in the market. Oh! I paid 100.00 for the complete boat trip including lunch, but there are several things extra, diving with the dolphin, etc. Lunch was worth it, it was delicious and had variety.

Its a 20 minute walk from the Opera House and worth it. You will find food, crafts, souvenirs, and raw food for locals.
All entrances go to a common area, but each entrance has a hall specializing in beef, fish, crafts, etc.
Plan an authentic local's meal here. Some english menus are available, but not everywhere. You will be eating with the locals. I did not see any tourists where I ate.
Beef and fish are sold in the open so expect some aromas. The pile of shrimp was really smelly. Remember its 85 degrees and 90% humidity and some food is not refrigerated. (Did I guess that most of the restaurants get there raw food right there too?)
Crafts are really cheap.
So is lunch, $5 USD.
Spend some hours here and they go get a boat to the Meeting of the Waters.

All Amazonians and tourists meet at this market that has everything, from the most necessary foodstuffs such as guaraná to all types of syrup, powder and sticks. Don't forget to visit the fish market where you will see huge pirarucus for consumption. Speaking of crafts, there is everything, of all sizes, tastes, types and prices, a paradise and a must-see for all tourists, whether to stroll or shop.

Nice open air market in an open building concept with lots of stalls. Great prices and a great place to pickup Amazon souvenirs/gifts. 2 atms to the right as you enter the gates from the main entrance away from the river.

We walked through this market a couple of times while in Manaus. It's fairly close to the cruise terminal. There is quite a bit of history in the designof the market, which was built during the "rubber boom." The contents are typical for a South American market.......lots of the same souvenirs. It's very difficult to determine what is a local product versus what may have come from China. We did find some nuts and a couple of small gifts.
Adjacent to the market is a large fish/meat/produce market. I'm not sure if it's part of the Lisboa market but there's an impressive variety of those items.

If you go to Manaus, you can't miss the Municipal Market. The classic architecture is beautiful and it is a great place to see handcrafts and typical food. The vendors are kind and offer different types of fruits and other local things. Just besides the main market, there is a much simpler building with several kinds of fish, mostly visited by people from the city. Suggestion: just in front of the market, in the river, there are fishing boats selling fresh fish for locals.

This is a huge indoor & outdoor market stretching over many blocks.
As you wander along you must look at ground level as well as above.
Shops and vendors offer everything imaginable and something you can't imagine.
Food, crafts, clothing, household goods, all jam packed into this Municipal market.
Vehicles are permitted but it is best to wander on foot. Many prepared food stalls offer local dishes -- we did not sample any of these. Bargaining is expected.
Locals and cruise ship tourists shop for unusual items side by side.
If you buy any wood items, it is best to place in freezer to kill any bugs.
Recommend stopping here. Easy to reach with cab from pier.

Probably the best market we visited in Brazil in over a month (and much better than the Belem market also in Amazonas). It is divided into different sections for fish, meat and souvenirs. The building is beautiful and we were amazed at how clean it was - there was none of the usual smell I associate with markets in the tropics. The people were extremely friendly irrespective of whether they were trying to sell us anything or not - the fishmongers were keen to tell us about their fish even though it was obvious we were tourists and not likely to be buying.
There is also a square nearby with a number of stalls selling local handicrafts.

Sorry for the late reply, but I don’t recall seeing any liquor in the market hall, but there were definitely a couple outside of the building.
