We stayed here for four days hoping to have a nice peaceful beach experience. We were travelling from BH to Recife, and stay in many coastal cities along the way, out of all of them, this was probably our least favourite.

I enjoyed that beach area a lot, while staying at Tres Poderes Hotel. A multitude of nice beach cabanas to drink/eat/snack. Sea is warm as a bathtub, protected by the coral reef.

The water is transparent, the sand is fine and easy to walk on. There are coral reefs about a mile in from the sand, so there are almost no waves, making this beach look very much like a gigantic natural pool. In the early mornings and late afternoons the tide goes down and you can walk all the way to reefs (take some sandals with you or even better -- crocks) without the water ever getting higher that your waist.

There are places that offer live music (voice and guitar, not the usual axé in most places) and others that are quieter, with no music. Take your pick!

To get there you can take a taxi or the bus (Bus to Cabralia to go there from downtown Porto Seguro and a bus called Brasileiro to get back to the city. It costs about 3 or 4 reais). Important tip: there is quite some traffic on the end of the days, when the restaurants close and everyone decides to leave at the same time, so plan ahead and leave a bit earlier or enjoy the sunset before you try to take the bus.

I was drawn to this beach from the recommendations on TripAdvisor, but was disappointed by the experience. The water is warm but full of seaweed, the tide sweeps the beach away by 2 o'clock. Not the #1 attraction in Porto Seguro by any measure.
