Ivan is the go-to guy if you need anything in Bahia. He picked me up in the middle of the night from the airport and brought me to my accommodation in town had a very reasonable price. I enjoyed it very much talking to him but in all the time I have been in Brazil I have been able to whatsapp him and ask lots of questions he is very helpful and knowledgeable.
I hope to see him again and stay in touch with him for many years to come as I know Brazil will be a place in my life.

Observing the many positive reviews Ivan has on Tripadvisor like here:
https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g303272-i3796-k4987755-Salvador_Review_tour_guide-Salvador_State_of_Bahia.html
and also at this page :
https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g303272-i3796-k8980365-3_day_itinerary_in_Salvador-Salvador_State_of_Bahia.html
we decided to get in touch with him.
As he helpfully responded on quite a short notice, we were quickly able to make out if he would be able to help us (family of 4 with an adolescent and a toddler) in organizing our trip to Salvador and the Chapada Diamantina park.
We got a good proposal (nicely adapted to our family needs) for travel to Bahia.
Ivan was a flexible guide, available whenever we needed him (without being intrusive), always careful to take everybodies limits (even our toddler's) into account and adapting on the spot when needed.
What we admired was his historic and cultural knowledge of Salvador, knowing his way around well beyond the tourist zones, as we personally prefer meeting with locals and see what their life is about.
In the national park Chapada Diamantina we loved the hikes Ivan did with us, always near the water for a quick refreshment (and yes December is an OK month to go to Chapada. The pousada Alto do Cajueiro where he booked us in Lençois, was a charming and tranquil place to stay overnight and only a few minutes from the center of Lençois.
Ivan was also the only who offered to drive us directly from Lençois in Chapada Diamantina to Valença, where we could take the ferryboat to the Island Morro de Sao Paulo. That was a game-changer for us as we did not have to go back all the way to Salvador first.
Would we recommend #IvanBahiaGuide ? Yes, absolutely!
In the end he offers much more than just transportation, it's more like a friendly organized all-inclusive-service for travelers in the region.

Ivan knows the ins and outs of Salvador’s historical district and was a great guide to help navigate the streets. He is also super knowledgeable about safe and not safe areas to avoid. He went out of his way to help us set up our mobile phone SIM card as well. One suggestion area of improvement is to give more historical details to the various sites, and to go into more churches and buildings, if possible, especially since it is so hot outside. Overall, I wholeheatedly recommend Ivan as a private guide.

I found Ivan very rude and snarky from the beginning
We did not even do a tour with Ivan but just from our conversation enquiring about our stay, we were turned off. He was quite rude and obnoxious.
When I initiated a conversation, he gave me a price which was 5X the price of another place, so I responded that it was outside our budget, and that others were 700BRL, and thanked him anyway. He responded with "Must be a great tour with everything in option (typically full of small prints, no transport, unsafe public bus etc)
have a great stay in Bahia, but be aware of the typical tourist traps (in which you're bound to step )." I found this response very unprofessional and rude, particularly as the other tour (Anselmo Turismo) had many more positive reviews than him. Fair enough warn me about issues that I might have, but no need to be rude and sarcastic about it. He also added that his tours are private, which goes to show he did not even inquire about what I wanted. We enjoy group tours - as well as generally having lower prices (being backpackers), we also get to meet people from all over the world, but Ivan did not ask what we were after. After being rude and me telling him so, he ended up blocking me on Whatsapp.
We prefer to go with another tour agency than him, much cheaper and more professional.

This is NOT A REVIEW of a SERVICE we provide !
The so called "reviewer" was in reality being unhappy about a price quote without even knowing in detail (as the tour was never executed) of our services.
Eventually, what is wrong / obnoxious / rude about warning about a "service full of small prints with extra hidden options" as we specifically offer an ALL IN service without hidden option ?
AGAIN, the so called "reviewer" admits here above himself he DID NOT use our service hence is incabable of reviewing ;-)
By the way, isn't it sooo strange that none of our REAL customers/travelers complains in any way of our services ?
I rest my case.

Ivan was amazing in this tour. He took really good care of us and made sure we see the top highlights of this amazing national park. Then he took us back straight to the hotel just outside the door. It was an amazing day. I really recommend this to anyone who only has a little time in Salvador but does not want to miss this gem which is Chapada Diamantina

1 day tour is excellent opportunity to see what Salvador has to offer when you have limited time available. the daytour let's you see both tourist spots but also the not so obvious places where you can experience the 'local' life. guide Ivan is a walking Wikipedia when it comes down to Salvador, both it's history as modern time facts, hence recommended tour, not only to see things but also to know/learn about Salvador's rich history.

Thoroughly professional service in English (one of his multiple languages) from Ivan that, as we were short on time staying in Salvador, allowed us to see the pretty and vibrant Lencois village and also some highlights of the Chapada Diamantina ranges. Recommended if you don't have time to spend several days hiking/camping in the park but still dont want to miss out!

We only have a few days in Salvador & was very keen to go and visit Chapada Diamantina National Park on a day trip. Every tour company does at least a 3 day trip, however, we were very lucky to find Ivan to take us on this tour. Ivan speaks 5 different languages: English, Portuguese, Dutch, French, Spanish and is very professional and prompt with his responses. He brought us to Lencois, some waterfalls/ natural eroded rock formation and the Grand Canyon of Brazil. We also have had a very nice local lunch (paid by weight) at Lencois, it’s our first and last one, the only one that looks hygienic and very delicious. It was 5.5 hours to and 7.5 hours journey back but the 5 hours spent at the National Park was well worth it! We give it to Ivan for taking on such long and grueling drive and also the mini hiking in the heat of the day in the National Park. It’s not an easy feat for him.
If this tour is not for you, he can always personalise other tours for you as you wish. Approach him for more details. = )

I did a five-hour walking tour with Ivan together with three colleagues. Ivan is not only very knowledgeable about the history of the area as well as the current ins and outs, but he is also very attentive to the wishes and interests of the clients. He did not just do a standard tour but came to our hotel and started wandering towards Pelourinho from there. Like said, he adjusted to our wishes and interests and helped out with things we were specifically looking for. We had a great time with Ivan and would have loved to take another or longer tour with him if we wouldn’t have been there for work! Highly recommended.
