Took a day long boat tour, took over an hour to reach this island from the mainland salvador. We stayed about 2 hours here before going to Itaparica. The bees almost ran me off the island though... good thing I'm not allergic.

The Ilha dos Frades is a small island with a beautiful beach and calm waters. Good way to get there, is with the Schooner Tour, which is a day trip to this island and the Itaparica Island.

The natural beauty, are at risk from rampant allowed construction. Buildings without controls, are jeopardizing this natural heritage. See open sewers, insects, trash and crumbling streets, it is a signal, that before long this island will be condemned to lose all its charm.
